A couple days ago we PRESENTED our design project so around 50 people. Our group in the classroom  got chosen to present to all the parents and Zeeland government people. It was such an amazing time. I talked about the fireplace we designed and gave a brief about some others designs and someone in our group presented to be walking through the park to make the audience visualize what the park might look like and sound like and be like, the audience I think liked that, It was really fun. The people in my group talked about the splash pad idea, the pond, water wall, and the stage idea and the picnic table idea, and many more. the presentation turned out really good. It was fun to make and think about and so much more. Afterwards when we were all done presenting the clients (Mr. Klunder and Mrs. DeRoo) that worked for the city of Zeeland told us about what they thought and their ideas, then we got to get cookies!! I got FOUR WHOLE cookies in all. Yuummm! I got a brownie, a store bought cookies (you know the ones with allt he frosting and such) a Lemon cookie, (which was SOOOO yummy) and late rwe had extra so I also got an M&M’s cookie. It was all worth it.. haha. It was such a fun experience and I’m so glad we could help the city of Zeeland!!! Here below is a sorta good pic. of our model of the park.

I have learned so much over the past few weeks, About many different things of how to design and even how to work with other people more efficiently. I also have gotten better at many different places in me. I think i have gotten much better at working with different people that I usually don’t talk to, and telling my ideas more openly and explaining it. I think i have grown in presenting to strangers, and not strangers. I think I have gotten better at like actually talking and explaining what I’m talking about in presenting like, I was explaining a fireplace and I sort of knew what to say, so I had more time to like make what I say better, and making eye contact with the audience, and making my vioce more interesting to listen to so that they get more into what we’re presenting. I have worked hard to make that happen, I don’t know if I actually made my voice more interesting and pulling in as I had wanted too, but yea, I tried and practiced. I think I have gotten better at working with people I don’t usually work with (as I have said above) We all worked like a group and told our ideas, and made our work that much better including everyone’s ideas and thoughts to make the perfect thing to add in the park. I learned more about designing and about the process of designing, and everything was just so fun to learn about! Something I will always remember is our groups work that we did in smaller groups. It was so fun working with them, and they had some really fun ideas to have in this park! They were including and open with their ideas and that was just so awesome I thought, Our presentation turned out pretty good, and it was an amazing experience to help the city of Zeeland with designing this Heritage Sq. 🙂

These are the notes I took during our session our class took of how to present our design idea to the people our grade is “working” for. Read these notes for some pointers and hints. ( I Know my Handwritting is terrible) and if you want to know why we did this in school, read below to see why!!  where it says DEsigN Project or something like that! 😀 Hope my hints help!

These past week, our grade has been working on a design project for Heritage Sq. in our local town. The first day we started (which was the day of my b-day! 🙂 we went to the Library in our downtown and the our clients told us what they were looking for in this design. They were asking for ideas and information about what people want in this gathering place. When we got back to school, we went over the project brief that our “clients” made us for this project. We highlighted the main points that they were looking for in this park and clustered the main points into separate groups. Our studio went to Tiger Studio and learned what they did to design. How they made apps on phones or computers and how they made logos and designed things. We found out a bunch of information about what the people enjoyed and the main age group in our town and others. We went back to our studio and got put into expert groups that best fit us. Our group was the group that made questions that suit the designing idea and that were more open so that its not just a yes or no question so the people we interview can explain their reasoning. We went our in our downtown and went to the companies that were hosted near the place we were designing. It was a very fun activity to do. The people we interviewed were open to ideas and had a good attitude for us taking up their time. The past couple days we have went back to Tiger Studio with our ideas and our clusters and what the people’s ideas of what should be in the park should be. We talked over it there and we drew some sketches about what should be in the area. We came up with a lot of different ideas that would be super fun in the park! The next day we went into even smaller groups and made a design sketch of what we thought the main ideas for the theme we were assigned to. Our theme was the games in the area. A more open way to explain that would be the interactive activities that the kids and adults could do in the area. Then we presented our ideas to the client we made talked with the first day and they gave us some input. This designing activity at school has been a lot of fun. We learned about designing and thinking deeper, and doing more than just thinking of one idea and being done with it. To elaborate our ideas and give morethan just enough. It made me think deeper and design better!
