What I learned in Math

I learned in math about finding angles to different kinds of shapes with similar shapes. I could use this when if I’m measuring something and something similar and congruent to that I could just use the one shape and not have to measure both.

I could also use the coordinate plane.  I’ve heard form Andrew, that to make a video game, I would have to use the coordinate plane in someway, so if I ever go in an industry like that, I would be able to do it.

I also learned how to find angles to different shapes, such as triangles, squares, ect. I could use this if I didn’t have a protractor to measure things out to make something, and If I already had the main idea of the measurements, then I could do that also. If I went into building or something like that, this would help.

A lot of the things I learned this year could help with a numerous amount of jobs that I could go into.

Theme Writing

They have no speach, they have no words; no sound is heard from them. Yet their voice goes out into all the Earth, their words to the end of the World. Psalm 19: 3-4

In the May of last year, our grade came up with this theme. Deciding on a verse, which is the one above, our class came up with the theme, “Shout Silently- Actions that Speak” This theme is about how we, as a school could tell people about Christ about His Word, through how we act, not always about what you say to others. You also have to have the actions to fulfill it. These verses in the Bible though, are about nature and how the sun and the moon and how they go out into the world, and without speaking, can spread the word of God, just by looking and recognizing them. Just like them, being made and being creations by God, we should be able to do that also. There wasn’t a theme like this before, and our grade thought it was a perfect theme that we also can work on. So these past couple days, we, as a grade, came up with ways for each one of us personally, of how we can make a difference by the way we act and how we interact with people. As for me, I made ways I can impact others through my actions within the school, out in our community, and into the world.

As an 8th grader this year, I came up with four ways I could make a difference in the attitude of the younger grades through out the school and ways that would make them feel like they mean something, and make them feel special also. When I was younger I always looked up to the 8th graders, even last year I did. Being in that position, I don’t feel like I’ll be able to fulfill being that leader figure that I always pictured being an 8th grader would be. So I came up with a list I thought would be a good start this year on how to act and talk to the younger grades to live up to the theme verse we picked out. I thought that remembering the kids in my small groups names and everyone else’s name I can in the other grades would be a good start. I also thought that just saying hi to them could make a difference in there day, you don’t know what others are going through, so it might just make a small difference that could mean something. I don’t know about the other grades, but when I was younger, in small groups when they remembered my name and said hi to me in the hallways when we passed outside of it, that made me feel like an equal, I always enjoyed talking to them in the following group meetings and in the activities that came after. Within my grade itself and I could with others too, I thought it would be good to help my classmates with homework or class work then they need it. If they’re lost of don’t have a partner, I could help or become that persons partner. I liked when others came up to me and asked if I wanted to be there partner and joined up with me in the halls and I think that would be awesome if I did the same to others more this year and more throughout the years to come. Another idea I thought would be great was to ask or email my classmates if I can pray for them in any way, or just simply ask how they’re days going so far.

Just in general, even out of school, I have to be a good influence to everyone in a bunch of different ways, some just making a difference at home to the people around me. Some examples of how I could be good at school is making my bed in the morning without being asked to make my parents happy and unloading the dishwasher would also make them less stressed, even taking a little task out of their day would make a difference. Alike from those I could set the table or help them out a meal in any way if its a fairly big amount of work they have to do to prepare it. Another way I could be a good example of our theme outside of home or school is I could be positive always. Always being in a good mood even when you don’t feel like it could could influence the people around to also join you and have a good mood. So I’m going to always try to be positive about what I’m doing.

This year I made ways I can impact others through my actions within the school, out in our community, and into the world. I want to try to remember other grades names and say hi to them in the hallways, help with homework whenever I can, and ask everyone how there days going or ask if theres any way I can pray for them. In the community and at home I came up with ways I could also make a difference, even if its small. I could make my bed in the morning without being asked, along with that I could unload the dishwasher for my parents, I could also set the table before meals and help with the meal, and then I could always be positive to others around me, out of school and in. There’s a lot of ways I could be a good influence to everyone, and I could try working on a lot more, I just decided to choose these to focus on.
