Theme Writing

Matthew 7: 24 – 25

Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock.

Last year our grade went to camp and we came up with a theme verse for our 8th grade year at ZCS. Our theme verse this year, “Built on the rock”, means a lot to me as both an 8th grader at ZCS and as a christian in the world.

It means that we are the leaders of the school. We are the leaders in small groups and in family groups also. So it means that we must be on our best behavior at all times because all the little kids look up to us. So that means that they pay attention to our actions and look at what we do around school.

It means a lot to be a christian in the world. We need to tell others about God. We need to spread the gospel. We are God’s disciples and it’s like one of the theme verses we had it was “Go” and we need to “Go” and spread the word. And also as a christian we need have good actions when we are out in public.

Now after this I hope you know what it means to be a 8th grader at ZCS and what it means to be a christian in the world. And not just that but what our theme verse means to ZCS and how it connects with us.

Descriptive Writing

The anchor card reminds me of when i go on my boat at my cottage. On the weekend i would wake up at my cottage and go on the boat. In the morning I would take the boat cover off and I can feel the warmth of the boat cover it feels like your in a sauna thats not as hot though. Then we would go out on the boat and surf i could hear that engine roaring when your sitting on the back of the boat. When its my turn to surf i hope in the nice warm water and get up. I throw the rope in the boat and start carving up and down the wake.

The American flag reminds me of the 4th of July at my cottage. When its the 4th of July you can see the sparkle and the crackle in the distance. You can smell the sweet gun powder from the fireworks that you light off. I sit in a chair outside then all of a sudden theres a big bang. I love watching all off the fireworks. Then you go to bed and you think you cant wait to see them next year.

The book reminds me of none of the reading i did this summer. When you open a book you get that really bad scent of paper. You get that feeling on your fingers that you touching a book. Thats why I don’t touch a book in the summer. The reason is because I need a break from all of that hard work during the school year. But now its time to start reading in the school year.

Summer
