Volcano

IMG_0131

In school we are making a volcano. In my group is Sam, Jacob and me. Our group started of by making one batch of play doe and then we realized that we needed a lot more so we made a couple more. Our Volcano is a cinder cone volcano. We built the play doe around the coke bottle and the next day it started to fall. We made another batch and then painted it in the same day.

Gods Preperation

I really don’t know what God has been preparing me to do in his kingdom. My talents are sports and I like to socialize. And those could be things that lead up to it and I hope that I get experiences that will lead me closer to God and get cool talents that I have to earn and will help do work in his kingdom.

The Story of the Stolen Pickle

Story of the stolen Pickle

It was a morning that started out very shocking. Somebody stole Eli’ s pickle. He yelled at the top of his lungs and cried out, “ my pickle has been stolen,” So he started crying and the bag was ripped and there was blood on the bag. Eli got super mad and started walking up to everyone and asked them if they stole his pickle. He asked Mr. Devries because he saw that he was eating pickles earlier that morning in math class, Mr. Devries said, “ No. What kind of pickles do you have?” Eli said, “ I have Vlasic dill pickles,” Mr. Devries said, “ I hate dill pickles so I’m not the culprit.”

Then Eli went up to Sam Sytsema in 7th grade because he is the funniest kid in the school. Eli asked him what he had for breakfast because he says that every morning to him and Sam said, “ Do you like pickles,” because he says the most random stuff in the world. Eli said, “ Did you steal my pickle?” And then Sam said, “ No but what hand do you like the most?” and he scratched it and ran off screaming.

Then Eli was bleeding and went to the bathroom. While he was in the bathroom he saw a bloody bandaid in the sink. Then Eli went out of the bathroom and looked at everybody’s hand and then he saw Tyler’s hand and it was all scratched up and Eli asked Tyler, “ Why is your hand all scratched up?” and Tyler said, “ Sam scratched it, I did have a bandaid and it got to bloody so I took it off and got a fresh one.” Eli smelled his breath and it smelled like pickles and all of a sudden he punched Tyler in the face and said, “ you stole my pickles!” and then Tyler said, “ You wouldn’t give me

Why is it important that we study Christian Persecution?

I think that it is important because there our people like us being persecuted and we or other people don’t know about it. So we need to Pray for others and have a voice for them because people really don’t know that this is happening. Also these Christians just like us are being sent to jail and persecuted, and we don’t need to worry about that because we live in a free country that you can choose your religion, So we need to know that there are people out there dyeing because of there faith.

Ideal Church vs Early Church

In bible class we talked about the early church and the church now days and how they were different. Some of our Ideal church ideas were Steph Curry ass the preacher, Food bar, Ski resort, and some of the early churches where that they were always together, communion, shared possessions. I think that our Ideal church doesn’t even focus on God and its all about us.

Pythagorean Theory Project Reflection

Well Gabe and I came up with a problem where a guy is eating to many grains a day so he needs to cut back. And he is eating a sandwich and needs to find how much grains he is eating so he cuts it in half because it is to much and needs to find how many grains are in the half that he cut. I think that this makes sense because he needs to find out how much he eats by using the pythagorean theory.

The name of the book that I read was Michael Oher I Beat the Odds. The author of this book is Don Yaeger. In this book there is a kid Michael Oher who is taken away from his mom because she was a drug addic. He had all brothers and some of them were separated from each other and got put in foster homes. And then he is in high school and he meets this one family and they take him into their house for a while. Then while he is there he plays football and has a very good time. Then that family adopted him and he got scholarships for football. He went to Ole Miss for football and then went into the NFL and got drafted by the Baltimore Ravens. From this book I learned that I should try to do the best in everything that I do.

With this thesis that I learned from the book, I saw some things where I could see it from how he was acting, talking or doing something else. So when Michael Oher was in highschool he didn’t get the best grades because he wasn’t well taught when he was little and he always switched schools. But he had to keep his grades up to play football for his high school team and not just that but to get accepted into colleges to play football. One way he did that was getting a tutor and help gets his grades and and also he studied really hard. That what I saw him do the best that he could do in everything.

When Michael Oher was 13 years old he got up at 6:00 am and sold newspapers on the streets in Memphis to make money for clothes and food. I saw him doing the best he can by this because he is getting up really early to sell newspapers to make money for himself. I’m 14 years old and I don’t even have a job. I don’t have a job because I depend on my parents. He is making money for his younger and older brothers and sisters. That reminds me I should do the best I can through just working.

One thing in the book is that he is always trying to be a good friend, son and brother. When he was little he was taking care of all of his brothers and sisters and they taking care of him also. You could just tell this all through his actions and how he talks to them. This is what I saw him do the best he could. And that was telling me the best I can do just from being nice to people.

So in this book I learned that I should try to do the best in everything that I do. Through all the stuff that I talked about and more. This was a very good book that I read and I would easily prefer this book over anything else.

Phosphorus cycle

The Phosphorus cycle can start any where in the cycle. But I am going to start in the soil. Then it can get observed by water and sink down to the bottom. Then it becomes a solid like a rock. Next it up lifts from earthquakes and volcanos. Then it all sits in a weathering rock on a hill and then it rains and that creates runoff and goes back into phosphates in soil.

Theme Writing

Matthew 7: 24 – 25

Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock.

Last year our grade went to camp and we came up with a theme verse for our 8th grade year at ZCS. Our theme verse this year, “Built on the rock”, means a lot to me as both an 8th grader at ZCS and as a christian in the world.

It means that we are the leaders of the school. We are the leaders in small groups and in family groups also. So it means that we must be on our best behavior at all times because all the little kids look up to us. So that means that they pay attention to our actions and look at what we do around school.

It means a lot to be a christian in the world. We need to tell others about God. We need to spread the gospel. We are God’s disciples and it’s like one of the theme verses we had it was “Go” and we need to “Go” and spread the word. And also as a christian we need have good actions when we are out in public.

Now after this I hope you know what it means to be a 8th grader at ZCS and what it means to be a christian in the world. And not just that but what our theme verse means to ZCS and how it connects with us.

Descriptive Writing

The anchor card reminds me of when i go on my boat at my cottage. On the weekend i would wake up at my cottage and go on the boat. In the morning I would take the boat cover off and I can feel the warmth of the boat cover it feels like your in a sauna thats not as hot though. Then we would go out on the boat and surf i could hear that engine roaring when your sitting on the back of the boat. When its my turn to surf i hope in the nice warm water and get up. I throw the rope in the boat and start carving up and down the wake.

The American flag reminds me of the 4th of July at my cottage. When its the 4th of July you can see the sparkle and the crackle in the distance. You can smell the sweet gun powder from the fireworks that you light off. I sit in a chair outside then all of a sudden theres a big bang. I love watching all off the fireworks. Then you go to bed and you think you cant wait to see them next year.

The book reminds me of none of the reading i did this summer. When you open a book you get that really bad scent of paper. You get that feeling on your fingers that you touching a book. Thats why I don’t touch a book in the summer. The reason is because I need a break from all of that hard work during the school year. But now its time to start reading in the school year.

Summer

I went to lacrosse tournaments in Chicago, Sandusky, Saginaw and in Traverse city. I went golfing at Pilgrims Run and me and Logan shoot a 41 in a scramble. I also went up to my cottage and went surfing. Me and my friend Blake went quading. And I went swimming with my friends.

African Union day

So our class each got assigned a country in Africa. And we all had to argue about the conflict of Burundi and what our countries could do to help them with the election and everything else. My country was Somalia.

I learned that it is really hard to come down to one subject with our countries, But I cant imagine to do it with all of the countries in Africa. My favorite thing about this is that we could argue with each other and get down to one subject. I wish that we could do this for a couple days of the week and learn about this way more.

Invictus Response

In the begging of the movie the whites and the blackes did not get along. But then at the end of the movie when Nelson walked out he was wearing Francois jersey, and they were both differnt races. Also another example the guards who were differnt races and in the begging they hated eachother, but then they finally they started to get nicer to eachother throughout the movie.
