God at Work

In Bible class we have been learning about Paul’s ministry. This paragraph is going to tell you some events in Paul’s past that helped him evangelize in the future. One of those things was he was trained to be a Pharisee. That helped him later in his  life because that meant he had lot’s of knowledge of scripture and the Torah. Paul also had Roman and Jewish citizenship. Another one was that he had Roman and Jewish citizenship. It helped him once when some Roman soldiers were going to beat him and he told them that he had Roman citizenship. If you had Roman  citizenship in that time you were very privileged. You had the right to a fair trial and you could not be beaten/killed unless you committed treason. Paul was also a tentmaker by trade. That helped him because he was always on the move from city to city and if need be he could camp out.  The last thing I am going to talk about in this paragraph is how Paul knew many languages and was very smart. That helped him in his evangelistic career because he could preach the Gospel to more people.

I believe God can also work in and through me too further his kingdom. One of the talents he has given me the privilege to learn is the language of Spanish. I believe that being able to speak multiple languages can really help you in life whether it be in the workplace or evangelizing to other people. Right now God is forming me to be His servant in the future.

Volcano Project

The past few weeks we have been working on our volcanoes. My group consisted of Quinten, Alex and I(Caleb). Alex is not pictured. Our first step in this project was to make a poster about the 3 different types of volcanoes and 1 real volcano in the world. The three different types of volcanoes are composite, cinder cone and shield volcanoes. The volcano that we picked in the real world is Mt. Fuji. After we were done with the poster we started working on our volcano model. We constructed a skeleton for our volcano(cardboard) then we covered it with paper mache. After that we painted and labeled parts of our volcano. We are going to make it explode by using diet coke and mento’s. Overall my group did a great job and I think our volcano is going to be successful.

PBL Project

Over the past few weeks, we have been studying Christian persecution in North Korea. My group(Jacob, Quinten and I) has worked tirelessly to present to you many visual aids to present to the people coming to the persecution project showcase. We made charts, videos, presentations, maps, posters, and flags. Here is the link to our presentation.

Spaghetti Tower Reflection

We have been working recently on a project in science involving making spaghetti towers. Our (Alex, Aiden, Cal, and Caleb) tower did not go so well. The requirements of the tower were it had to be 40 inches high and hold an egg on to of it during an earthquake. In the beginning, all was going well. Our teamwork was great, our blueprint was excellent and everything seemed to be going well. When we started building the first story it was awesome. Then the second story happened. Our blueprint made our second story lopsided and we had a few different ideas to fix it and we ended up trying to replace the marshmallow and the spaghetti sticks snapped and we ruined our tower and only got it to about half the height. In the end, we improvised to the best of our abilities and we got what you see in the picture.

Math Project-The Pythagorean Theorem

Recently for a math class I had to make a project about the pythagorean theorem. I worked with Quinten on it because he is my friend and he is also in my math class. We made a burrito and we explained how people use the pythagorean theorem to make their burrito’s. It was called The Ultimate Perfect Burrito. We used a bunch of construction paper making it. We had the construction paper and we ripped up a bunch of  colored papers that looked remotely like the colors of burrito ingredients. After that we wrote a response about it. Here is our work if you would like to see it.

Lost in Love

1 John 4:10-11

This is love: not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.

In the Bible the greatest commandment is to love God and to love one another. This year we as an 8th grade want to follow the example that Jesus gave us to love everyone. We can show our theme, Lost in Love, to others in our school and to people in the world.

I can show this theme many ways at school. What it means to me is that God loves us so much not because anything that we can do but because He made us and cares for us and we should show that same love to others. One way I can show Jesus’ love to others at school is by showing respect by listening to my classmates when they are talking. Another way I can show love to others is by trying to be friends with someone who doesn’t have many or just talking to them. Another way I can show love to my school is by not thinking or saying negative things about others.

As Christians, we can also show this theme to the world. One way we can do that is through our actions. As we know actions speak louder than words and we as Christians can be examples by showing others how to love. Another way we can show our love to the world is just by being there for others. We should always lead by example and lead others to God.

We can show our theme, Lost in Love, to others in our school and to people in the world. We should always do the best we can to love others no matter the circumstances.

Beginning of Year Reflections

One thing that I have enjoyed so far this year is going to 8th grade camp and hanging out with my friends. Camp was really fun and I got to have lot’s of fun there.

One thing I have learned in school so far this year is the history of The United States and how it was discovered and colonized. We have been working on a really fun project where Mrs. Williams is the Queen and she sent explorers to discover the New world and right now we are working on the 13 original colonies and we get to make our own.

Something I am looking forward to this year is just having a great year by learning and having fun as an 8th grader.

Science Boat Project

Our boat is powered by air. The first time went better than expected. Before it would turn and not make it to the end  but the first trial went well and we got 11.53 seconds. The changes we will make is we will make it shorter because it was too long and we will put more weight in the back so it doesnt tip forward. We hope that we will do better than last time.
