Names:
Names were very important and still are very important but not as much as it was in the old testament. These are some definitions of names Elohim the Lord creator God and Yahweh which means relationship with you, loving and caring. God give the parents of their children names that would fit what would happen in their lives when they were born. This kind of true for some people but names don’t fit always them. The names of people showed how they acted their heart and like sarah who’s named changed from Sarai to Sarah because of some of her actions and things she did. I remember names by a name tag that says hello my name is blank. I chose this because it helps me remember what people’s names are and why we have names and the importance. I learned that God Has a good point for your name and you need to show the definition in your life.
Conflict/Doubt:
The Israelites started struggling with God we saw this happen in the story of Jacob. In our own lives we go through doubt and conflict with others. Just like when we ask God why did you have my great grandma or something like that die and we don’t always get that he has a point for everything bad that happens in your life. I used the symbol of a baby because parents and kids doubt when a new baby brother or sister dies. I have gone through it personally but it wasn’t my sister it was one of my cousins who died a few days after she was born. My aunt and uncle just had to trust God that he was doing the right thing. I learned that we have conflict and doubt in our lives which God has put in on purpose so good can come out of it. I have experienced that with when my mom had cancer and you have the thought she could die but you have to trust him. I learned that we need to trust god through everything you have happen go through everyday.
Covenant/deal:
God made deals with the people of Israel and they didn’t always go through with their side of the deal. Sometimes they did we experience that today when we make a deal with our parents or friends and say we will do this and you have to do this then you can hangout with friends. The People shaking hands represents when we were in Ethiopia my parents shook hands with the judge. Which made Luke legally ours and that reminds me that if I follow my part of the deal usually the other person will to but not always. In this section I learned that we need to do our side of the deals and then we will get rewarded and if we don’t we get punished. Then people will not trust you when you say that and then you will not be trusted by other people. When you actually need help you won’t get it because someone with not believe you are doing your side of the deal.
Call:
In this section Abraham,Isaac, and Jacob have to trust God when he called them to move out of the land. They trusted God and they were rewarded with very good land and soil when you trust someone they will reward you with something good. But that will not always be the case you have to be careful of what you do. The symbol of this guy calling is like when God would pick up the phone and he would just call you and then you have to answer it and do what he wants you to do with your life. People from all around the world might get that call to go but not everyone gets called. I learned that people will get called and they will not always want to go but they trust God and do it and then they thank him for that. I have personally have not been called but someday it might happen.
Slavery/Salvation:
God had Joseph sold into slavery and his brothers lied and told Moses that he died and there was also Moses who was born into slavery as a kid. The people of Egypt and stuff meant to harm them and God had a way of making it good for them. God is all around us we can’t see him but he can see us he might even be right in front of you but you don’t know. The symbol of slavery and salvation is this book this book is all about people who were slaves but God gave them a better life through it. This about slavery and what is was like and someday I want to read this book and see how good it is because people have been saying it is good. I learned that God makes good out of bad like moses was free from slavery and that made him one of the best leaders in the bible to the people.
Sinai Law:
God created the ten commandments for the people of Israel to follow and they were ok at it at following it. They also were very bad it sometimes they would not follow it and God made this to protect them from bad and not to make them have no fun in life. We also love other things and give more time up for them like hunting and fishing for me and other things for other people. I have a picture of guns because some people want to get rid of guns but personally I don’t and people want to make a law to outlaw them for anyone to own. But that would be bad personally because I wouldn’t get to go hunting with my family and people who grew up with them would not either and would not make those great memories. They would have to learn how to shoot a crossbow if they still had those and people would have to find a new hobby and crossbows are a lot of money. I learned that we don’t all obey the law which God gives us and others don’t either but we should do our best to follow them. The guns helped me explain how to worked in our lives in Israel they had something probably with like drinking wine people might of wanted to outlaw that to.
Sent to the promise land:
God promised a lot of things to the people of Israel he gave them food and told them if they would follow his rules. They would get rewarded and either be blessed or cursed. The people had to trust God when they went to the promise land and just give him all of their attention and not think about other things. God would say something like choose this day to praise me or make new disciples. I did this vizual of the people sending this email and someone receiving the email from them. God kind of does the samething when he sends something into our brain like move to Africa or adopt or something related to that. You have to read the email and then you have to make the choice of taking the email and doing what it says or just leave it unread in your mailbox. I learned that sometime in your life you will be emailed from God and you will either take it or leave it there and keep it in your mind for awhile and that it is all you think about. This also helps me when I am thinking about making a choice.
Salute to the King:
The people of Israel wanted to have a king so God gave them one because all of the other nations had one. He said they will regret this and then the people went through some good kings and some bad kings and they didn’t trust God. The people did as they saw fit and that was not the best idea. There was a lot of bad things going on and it was like God versus the whole world. I used this symbol of a vet saluting the flag because sometimes I think wow we have a lot to be thankful in this country that God made. We don’t always praise him for it and complain about it and all the decisions that go one. This fit because we are in some war in some countries and a vet just seemed like the right fit. I learned that we have to salute to our king we need to make good decisions. We are also making some bad ones and he is watching over us and helping you through things that are going on in your life.
Symbol of a lamp:
God promised that the David’s line would never die off. David was a man after God’s own heart and he made some bad mistakes. God helped him get through those mistakes and he was one of the most important parts of the bible because he was the one who had the line in which later Jesus was going to be born. He was going to be a huge part of that and because of that he made everything pretty much because Jesus was the one who saved our sins and made most of the miracles happen. I used the symbol of someone tracking a deer because if you follow the blood of the deer you will get to your trophy the deer. That is kind of what David was doing because he was following the blood and he in the end got it the trophy of having a unending line. I learned that God makes you have a special gift kind of like David and you should use it for him and then he will reward you like David did.
Something is Rotten:
The people of Israel had some bad kings and they just kept getting them. God chose to give them Elijah which was a good thing because he helped the Israelites get back together. Then the people had a choice of either following Baal because all of the other kings introduced Baal. They started following him instead of God and then they went to Mount Carmel. They kind of a had battle to see which one was real. Elijah said you have a day to send a offering to Baal but you have to cry out to him to have him light the fire. They cried out for a day and it never happened so then Elijah covering the wood with water and that showed even more power. It is like impossible to do that and then Elijah cried out and God lit the fire. I choose this symbol because sometimes we have other things we give more time for I did hunting and fishing because it costs a lot of money for some of the things are pretty expensive. You have to give up a lot of time to prepare for it and actually do it. I learned that we have to give time to God and you can have hobbies but don’t serve them more. God does and you have to and then you will be rewarded with going to heaven.
Slide to Destruction:
God had to make some tough parts in the lives of the people. He made a lot of temptations like Baal he was making problems for the people in the Northern Kingdom which is really Israel. In the Southern Kingdom the people of Judah which is really what is the Southern kingdom and they had the Babylonians and they took over their kingdom. God sent some prophets that helped them with that. The king’s focused on their power and popularity and instead of there country so then they had bad things happen to him and their people. God puts some prophets in their country and they help fix the problems and they had some consequences for their actions. I had the symbol of orphans because when I was in Ethiopia and that makes me think wow I have a good life. I get mad and they are always happy and this is kind of the way the people of Israel lived because they don’t have the best government either kind of like the people of Israel. I learned that we have to trust God and not fall for the temptations that he has that get come at different times. We have to get rid of those and just follow him.
A Savior:
God decided to change his covenants because it was hard to follow his and the people were having trouble following them. God wrote it on their hearts and minds and there would be no more animal sacrifices. Jesus would be the ultimate sacrifice so we would be forgiven. God had Jeremiah given the covenant to the people and they had no conditions to follow it was based on the grace of God. he would forgive them for all of the bad they do. God had Isaiah give a bunch of signs of what a Jesus would be like and how he would be to them now. I used the symbol of Mcdonald’s because we just have to buy the food and they do all the rest. Kind of like how Jesus did everything for the people and they just had to watch it happen. Really they should help and they really didn’t kinds of like us just relaxing. letting people do the dirty work and you tell them what you want them to do.
