Making the New Downtown Zeeland Park

When we decided to start this project for school, we had split the whole entire 6th grade into three different groups and went to three different studios. I went to on called JCI (Johnson Controls Incorporation). They design and build all kinds of cars! But we weren’t there to learn how to design cars, we were there to learn how to design. And what we are designing is a park for downtown Zeeland.

We are designing this park for elderly people and for little kids because there aren’t many places for those kind of people to hang out with.

It was really hard to design something that wasn’t going to be for US because we knew exactly what we wanted in that park. We had sketched and drawn everything, but now we are worried about the cost, so we have to brainstorm some more about what we can do for all ages. Then we made surveys and surveyed people on the streets, in the neighborhood, in different classes in school, and in the public library downtown.

In this park, it is recommended that we put in water in the park. Water that is interactive and decorative. We are thinking of putting a HUGE sponge for people to play in, but where will we get that big of a sponge?! 🙂

A great idea that one of the students had was to have a lazy river or a Not-So-Lazy-River. Which means that we can have a lazy river and then after 5-10 minutes, there would be fountains blowing water for little kids.

This will be a really fun project to finish and will be such a great place for all ages!!!
