Lost in Love

This is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.

I John 4:10-11

Our theme this year is Lost In Love. We picked this theme because we wanted to make our school a more loving community. Another reason why we picked this verse was because it made us think of all the love that God has for us and that it will NEVER run out. We can show our theme, Lost in Love, to others in our school and to people in the world.

I can show this theme many ways at school. But it’s not always easy to do. There are a lot of times where I have an opportunity to show God’s love to someone, but I am to busy doing something else or doing something with my friends. One way you can show God’s love to someone at school is being a friend to others. I remember one time at school when I sad because of something, and then one of my friends went out of their way to ask me what was wrong, and after that I felt a lot better. Something else you could do to show love is to be respectful and kind  to your teachers and classmates. Teachers work hard to try and make school fun, and when other people don’t care, it makes it hard for them. Being respectful to your classmates is also really important… because there are always people messing around and talking to their friends while the teacher is trying to teach, and that makes it hard for other kids trying to learn. Another way you can show God’s love to people at school is by including everyone, no one likes to be left out and by themselves. During recess, if someone is alone, you could ask them if they want to come play with you. We can show God’s love everywhere at school.

As Christians, we can also show this theme to the world. You can show God’s love all over the world in just your actions. A lot of times, your actions speak louder than your words do. If you are kind to other people and you show God through your actions, people will see that and wonder why you would do something like that, and that way, you could tell someone about Jesus. Another way you could show God’s love to the world is by helping others in your community and the people around you. You could help old people by raking or mowing their lawns, or picking up trash. You could also show God’s love by helping poor people. One time when my family and I went to Grand Rapids, we took some food, like granola bars or trail mix, and some water bottles, and gave them to the homeless people on the street. I was crazy how happy and grateful they were only to get food… and we complain that we don’t like what we are eating for supper. We don’t have to do anything big, and go to another country to help people, God gives us opportunities right in our communities, and all the time we don’t see them and pass them by. It’s the little things that count.

We can show our theme, Lost in Love, to others in our school and to people in the world. We can show God’s love everywhere… at school and in the world. It doesn’t have to be something big and fancy, even your actions can make a difference in someone’s life.
