What stands out to you from the book or one of our conversations? What impacted you most?

The one thing that stood out to me was the religion, they always mention God and gods, so i was kind of confused. What impacted me most was when Mr. Minus explained that they had a mixed religion. They were forced to learn another religion over top of theirs.

What do you learn from this book or one of our conversations? Why does it matter? 

I learned that don’t have anything between you and your family, it will only make things worse. Nothing is more important that family (except God)

How does what you learned cause you to live, think, or approach the people around you differently?

This book was a reading challenge making you figure out what is happening, it wont just lay it out for you. I will definitly read things more thoroughly .

On May 1, i took a day to go to Indiana and shadow my dad at Walters’ Auto. My dad does the finances and on some occasions sells cars. I spent 4 hours watching and learning about what my dad does. The most interesting thing is that someone can get a 0 credit score. I had a fun time. One thing i didn’t like is that my dad’s boss made me shred papers. But in all it was a pretty progressive day. 🙂

On the night of November 13, a very wise spirit came to a little boy sleeping in his bed. When the spirit had woke him, the boy startled and jumped out of his bed about scream, but only to be stopped by the spirit, with his mouth wide open. The spirit said to him,”My master has chosen you, to be a part of the very few. A wish i have to give to thee, anything! Anything! To be free!”

The boy replied,”Well i don’t know, what should i wish for?”

“It is your decision,” said the spirit, kindly pointing at the boy.

“So i can wish for anything?” wondered the boy.

“Anything,” replied the boy. As the boy thought and thought, the spirit became inpatient. The wise spirit started trotting around the room, just steamed. As the boy came to his conclusion, the spirit was not very happy with him.

Saying in a quiet voice, the boy said,”Well I guess i would like an elephant.”

“An elephant!” shouted the spirit,”That is the craziest idea i have ever heard! Where will this elephant stay?”

“Well, I guess I can wish for the elephant and a place for it to stay too, all in one wish!”

“Tricky, Tricky, uh? But i don’t think you can do that. Wish for two wishes, but only use one.”

“Why don’t you check the rule book?”

“Silly little boy, there is no rule book!”

“Well, if there is no rule book then why can’t i wish for wishes, but only use my one?”

“I don’t see why that would be a problem. Well i may grant you what you wish.”

“Ok, I wish i could have my very own elephant…AND his place to stay.”

With a little magic here and there, the little boy had his very own elephant.

New glitch hits Mars Curiosity rover; scientists expand upon findings

A new glitch was found in the mars rover on monday. It is said that it just made the rover stay in a safe, planning mode longer. The rover had stopped in February and along that time that it had stopped it swiched files. The Mars Rover has two files an A-file and a B-file, it was first on the A-file, but then switched to the B-file, which it back-up. Scientists has switched it back to standby mode because they didn’t want to cause the rover to explode. And in that case, if it did explode it would release radiation and cause a solar flare. The reason this is so bad is because this is the rover that will detect if life is sustainable on Mars. Recently again the rover switched its file back to B. Scientists said this will take a few days to recover. They did find the source of the problem though, some files were being deleted, but one of those files was connected to the files on the Mars Rover, that had gotten deleted.

My opinion is that this is a huge thing, this could lead the world to a whole new era. It is serious and this could potentially hurt the earth, and destroy all the research the scientists have been searching for. In a way this is a good thing because it does help the scientists know more about the rover and what could destroy it. To me this is just a setback; I am sure they will fix it.

What did i learn that surprised me?

I always thought that each country voted for a President voted by the people. Like we do here in the US. I learned that in other countries that each one has a different or mildly different government. Some of these types work for their country and others are not working so well. I tried to do smaller countries that i did not know a lot about. I chose Gabon, Georgia, Papua New Guinea, Laos, and Suriname. These showed me some different Government types like Communist or Republic. They also showed me the 3 branches. the US has an executive branch that is the VP and Pres. Some other countries have a President, but also A Prime Minister. The legislative branch is also different. Some countries only have 1 house and others have 2, but each house is different like National Assembly, House of Representatives, and Senate. Finally the Judicial branch. Most countries have a Supreme Court, but others have a Cantond Court or a People’s Supreme Court. Overall this research of different government types was fun to do, but also fun to learn. Now i have a bigger perspective on the world.

How would i Structure my ideal government?

I would structure mine probably like the US because it works. I don’t want to do some type of government that i am unknown to because what happens if it goes wrong. My papers do show that these types of governments do work, but i think of it as there is a chart like with Government Type, Executive Branch, Legislative Branch, etc… You choose the way you want to run it for your country. I don’t know what works together or not. What political parties work with what kind of Executive Branch we have? It is a hard decision.

The Holy Spirit helps you understand the bible

Helps you have and keep faith in Jesus as our Savior

Helps you trust God everyday

Verses:

1. “In certain ways we are weak, but the Spirit is here to help us. For example, when we don’t know what to pray for, the Spirit prays for us in ways that cannot be put into words. All of our thoughts are known to God. He understands what is in the mind of the Spirit, as the Spirit prays for God’s people” (Romans 8:26-27, New Century Version).

   This verse means that the Spirit helps us because us humans are not very strong. We always don’t know what to pray for, so the Spirit is kind of like extra help, in which it prays for us in a special way. God knows our thoughts we can’t hide anything from him. God knows the Spirit inside-and-out. God knows how and why the Spirit prays for us.

2. “I will ask the Father, and He will give you [believers] another Helper to be with you forever – the Spirit of truth [Holy Spirit]. The world cannot accept Him, because it does not see Him or know Him. But you [believers] know Him, because He lives with you and will be in you…the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my [Jesus’] name, will teach you [believers] all things and will remind you of everything I [Jesus] have said to you (John 14:16-17, 26).

   This verse means that God will give you the Spirit and you have to be willing to accept it. You can’t follow others in the world who have not accepted the Holy Spirit, but follow those who have the Holy Spirit in them. The Father will send you the Holy Spirit, so that you may be like his son, Jesus. The Holy Spirit will teach you everything.

3. Mark 1:8

I baptize you with water, but he will baptize you with the Holy Spirit.”

The Holy Spirit will be given to you by God.

4. Luke 3:22

and the Holy Spirit descended on him in bodily form like a dove. And a voice came from heaven: “You are my Son, whom I love; with you I am well pleased.”

The Holy Spirit will enter you when God gives it to you. If you use the Holy Spirit in the right way, God will be pleased.

5.Luke 12:12

for the Holy Spirit will teach you at that time what you should say.”

The Holy Spirit helps you speak the word of God to others.

6.John 14:26

But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.

The Holy Spirit guides you, leads you in the right direction. Your mind will not go blank when thinking of God or the Holy Spirit.

7. Acts 4:31

After they prayed, the place where they were meeting was shaken. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the word of God boldly.

Praying will give you wisdom, which is like excepting the Holy Spirit. When you receive the Spirit, you will have a better faith in God.

8. Acts 8:14-16

When the apostles in Jerusalem heard that Samaria had accepted the word of God, they sent Peter and John to them.When they arrived, they prayed for them that they might receive the Holy Spirit,because the Holy Spirit had not yet come upon any of them; they had simply been baptized into the name of the Lord Jesus.

You should pray for others to have a better faith in God, if they haven’t stayed on the path. You have to be fully committed to God.

9. Hebrew 10:14-16

because by one sacrifice he has made perfect forever those who are being made holy.

The Holy Spirit also testifies to us about this. First he says:

“This is the covenant I will make with them after that time, says the Lord. I will put my laws in their hearts, and I will write them on their minds.”

Jesus gave his life for us. The Holy Spirit will share this with us. He will make a promise with us and sets a path for us.

10. Romans 8:16

The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children.

The Spirit will help you to know the truth.

 
Who is the Holy Spirit?

The Holy Spirit is the third side of the triangle, with the Father and the Son. The Holy Spirit helps you understand the bible. It helps you have and keep faith in Jesus as our Savior and to never give up on him. The Holy Spirit gives you patience and trust in God everyday to know that he will take care of you.

How does he work in my life?

I have grown to trust God everyday that he will not give up on me. I kept my faith in Jesus and gave thanks to him for his ultimate sacrifice to us. I do have a better understanding in the bible. I also have a better understanding of God and how powerful he is. The Holy Spirit has made my life plentiful.

Dia de los Muertos translates to Day of the Dead is what we learned today in Spanish. My opinion of it is i really was didn’t like it only because the skeleton theme and they take time every year to remember the dead, but our culture believes that they are in a better place. I respect they way they celebrate, but i just don’t agree with it.
