Homework, project, and fun stuff!!

May7

I don’t have many rights like my husband and sons do. I lay in bed next to my husband which I couldn’t pick, but trying to love, care, and adore for him anyway. I have to stay home and clean and teach my  son and can’t own any property. The women couldn’t even choose our own husband which is sad because I want to be able to be with the person I like and care about. We had it bad there and you will find out more about how we lived our life. My husband and my son has all these rights would be hard because we would have to go to all the meetings. We don’t have rights so we don’t have to worried about missing a meeting like my son and husband do. This happened in the city called Athens.

Government in Athens is where the son and fathers were the only one to vote and to speak freely at the assembly which I don’t think its fair because there are women like me that have good ideas to.The laws that were passed were made by the men and boys, but not by mother like me. There was no man and the assembly. I don’t think that men and boys should just vote, but women and girls should get the right and freedom to. My husband had to meet on a hill every 10 days for the Assembly. At least 6,000 free men have to be present for the meeting to take place plus my husband. That was life in Athens.

The economy was good and our family traded in agora which is a really big area like a store that I like to go to and it helps with our needs. We made their own money because it was easier to trade with. We traded wants for needs because we needed things to live on. That is how I get all of my stuff I need.

Our sons would have to memorizes everything in school because the books cost to much. I had to teach my son at home until age 7. Girls couldn’t go to school they had to learn the ways around the house, so the wives had to teach the daughter to. The girls learned how to clean, and cook for supper. So my daughter didn’t know how to read or write.

Women were treated very harshly with no rights. I had like no jobs so we worked at home and keep everything clean. I can’t inherit or own much property because I am a woman. We couldn’t even pick our own husband so we are stuck with a guy even if we don’t like him. I had to teach my own son until age 6 or 7. If slaves stopped working in the silver mines, or even take a little break we would get whipped. That only happen to the slaves.I feel like i’m invisible and no one cares about women, girls, and slaves. I hope that I will be able to make difference some day and get freedom like all the men and boys. And that is how Athens runs.

I like how you really used the first person in your narrative and I liked how you explained how women lived compared to how the men lived.
