Our Volcano is a cinder cone volcano. We used coke and mentos for our explosion. We used cardboard and tape to make our volcano. We painted it brown to make it look like a volcano. Then labeled our 10 things with tape. We made sure that we made it look as good as possible. It turned out pretty good. 
One way that I have seen God working in my life is through taking a spiritual gifts class and learning about some of the gifts that God has given me. For example one of my top 3 spiritual gifts is leadership. One way that I have seen God using my gift of leadership is by just helping me to be a good example for other people. Another one of my spiritual gifts was faith. One way that I have seen God using my gift of faith is by helping me have faith in him and by showing others what it means to have faith in God. Another one of my spiritual gifts was craftsmanship. One way I have seen God use my gift of craftsmanship is my calling me to go on a mission trip with my church and help put roofs on a couple houses. I think that on this mission trip I went on I could see God using all 3 of my main gifts. One way my leadership was shown was by helping everyone who needed help. One way my faith was shown was by just going to the houses and helping on them and being able to show God’s love to the people. Another way was when a boy that lived in the house came up to me and asked, ” is this fun for you guys, do you like doing these roofs?” I told him that we do like doing the roofs. In my head I thought I like doing it, but, the reason im doing it is not for me but it is to show others what it means to act like Christ. One way my gift of craftsmanship was shown was by just having a general idea of how to build the things we were building. On this trip I got to interact with 2 of the kids at the house my group was assigned to work at. I learned that the main thing for me at this house was not helping do the roof and working but, the main part was interacting with the 2 kids by playing catch with a football with him or just talking. One way that I learned that interacting with the kids was more important was from my youth group leader. I was playing with the kid and I told him I had to make sure that they didn’t need me at the time on the roof, so I went over to my youth group leader and said, ” do you need me right now?” He said, “what your doing with that kid is more important” I learned that he was trying to tell me that I was blessing that kid because that kid didn’t have that many people that live by him that play catch with him so I should keep playing catch because I was sharing God’s love with him. This trip taught me that I am so blessed that I need to go and be a light for God by going on mission trips and sharing his word. I think that God is going to send me on more mission trips because that is where he wants me to be.
I have learned many thing about Christian persecution in Indonesia. One thing I have learned is that Muslims are trying to burn down the Christian Churches. The Muslims are also interfering with the Christians worship services and the Christians do not like it at all. I learned that this is creating a lot of commotion in Indonesia, so we should help the Christians so that this will stop.
I learned that sleep is turned on and off from the interactions in your brain.
One thing that was interesting was that we sleep 32 years of our life.

Fred was walking home one day after school with his best friend Bill. They walk home from school everyday in the summer because they like to talk to each other and others that they walk past on the 2 mile walk home. They both live in the neighborhood raindrop, there houses are right next to each other. On Their walk home they walked past Johnny. He had some blood on the right side of his face and was wearing a blue pair of shorts and a white sweatshirt and a pink backpack. The sweatshirt had blood on it from his face. They asked him what happened to his face. He said, “ my mom slapped my face because I gave my brother a swirly and her long fingernails cut my face.” Bill and Fred asked him if he wanted some paper towels or ice for his cut but he said no. So they just moved on and a little ways down the road they saw Joe. They stopped to talk to him but he just walked on by not saying a word. He was wearing a blue pair of shorts and a white sweatshirt and a pink backpack. Bill and Fred looked at each other and shrugged their shoulders and moved on. They were about a mile from their houses when George walking, he was wearing a blue pair of shorts and a white sweatshirt and a pink backpack. They stopped to talk to him about where he was going because George wanders the streets a lot.
George said, “to school because it’s warm there.”
They told him, “ school is locked now because everyone left early today, why don’t you come home with us and join our sleepover.”
George said, “Ok.”
So they all headed for Fred’s house because that’s where they were having the sleepover. When they got home they went inside to go pet his dog and play the xbox. They went up to Fred’s room with the dog and were getting ready to play the xbox, but it was gone. Fred freaked out and screamed, “ WHERE IS MY XBOX?” His parents were not home yet so they looked through the house to make sure no one was there, it was all clear. They went to Fred’s neighbor Bob’s house because he stays home all day and works on his garden and asked him if he saw anything weird happen that day. He said, “I saw a boy with a blue pair of shorts and a white sweatshirt and a pink backpack on walk out of your house a 12:30 P.M with a box type thing in his hands. I thought that maybe you forgot something and came home quick to get it. But I don’t know because it’s the day that everyone wears a blue pair of shorts and a white sweatshirt.”
Fred replied, “ I was at school all day I never came home, that thing you thought was a box type thing was my xbox, and that person who walked out stole it.
Bob said, “ I am very sorry but there is nothing else that I can do to help you. I have no clue where the person went.
Fred replied, “ Ok thank you for the information.”
Bob said, “ of course hope you find the person who stole it.”
They went back home and talked about who they thought stole the xbox. They looked on the floor of his bedroom and saw a little red spot. They talked and decided that it was blood.
So they looked in George’s backpack when he went to the bathroom but all it had was some food and a pair of clothes. They figured that it wasn’t him because it wasn’t in his backpack and he didn’t have a home. So they went over to Joe’s house and asked him why he didn’t talk to him on his way home. He said, I needed to get home because I had to go to the doctor and had no time to talk, sorry for not replying.”
Fred said, “It’s ok, we were just confused.”
Joe said, “ do you guys want some dinner?”
They said, “sure we would love some dinner.”
Joe told them to come on in. When they were done with dinner they went to Joe’s room and then Joe’s mom told him he had to do the dishes before they play. He went down and did the dishes. While he was doing the dishes Fred, Bill, and George looked in his backpack and his room for the xbox but it wasn’t there. They told him they had to go. He said, “ok bye”
They went to Johnny’s house and knocked on the door. There was no answer they went around back and saw that the door was unlocked. They looked inside and saw Johnny playing an xbox. Johnny’s family was very poor and could not afford an xbox. So they knocked on the door and Johnny turned around when he saw who it was he quickly shut the xbox off. The Fred said, “hello.”
Johnny replied, “Hey we meet again.”
Fred said, would you like to tell me what actually happened to your face?
Johnny said, “ I went into your house and stole your xbox because you are the only person I know that has one and I really wanted one. When I went into your room the dog came running in and tried to attack me he got me with his claw once. But then I got it unplugged and ran.”
Fred replied, “ I want my xbox back, and next time if you really want to play it just ask me.”
“Ok i’m sorry,” Johnny replied
Solution- Fred and Bill walked past 3 people on there way home. All 3 people were walking away from there house. Johnny had blood on his face which he said came from his mom hitting him but they figured out that was a lie. George, one of the people they saw on there way home, joined there sleepover and they checked his backpack while he was in the bathroom. Then they went to Joe’s houses and ate dinner with him and then looked in his room to see if he had it but he didn’t. Then they went to the first person they saw, Johnny who had the blood on his face.They knocked on the door and know one answered. So they went to the back of his house and saw him playing the xbox in his basement. They knocked on the door and he quickly shut it off because he knew he had been caught. So Fred and Bill found the xbox back by following the clues.
One reason I think that it is important to study Christian persecution because it reminds us how blessed we are to have the freedom of religion. I also think it is important because it reminds us how we can help Christians who are persecuted, by praying or maybe donating to an organization that help persecuted Christians. My last reason why I think we should study Christian persecution is because many people have to go through things that we don’t, and it helps us understand how much people love the Lord, because there being persecuted for loving him and want to express his love to others.
In bible class we talked and compared our Ideal church (todays church) vs. the early church (church a long time ago). For example the two churches were both churches that were made to honor God. I think that the early churches and people were a lot more unselfish, meaning that they were there more to honor God. I think that churches and people today still honor God but there are many things that people spend more time with then God. Which makes the modern churches a little bit more selfish.
We were looking online for things with right angles and we saw a sandwich. We decided we could right a word problem about a sandwich. We came up the story problem because we thought that if a fat character goes to the doctor his doctor would give him some recommendations to lose weight. Bill’s doctor told him he needed to eat less grains. We looked up how many grams of grain a person should eat each day. He already had eaten 154 grams and 1 half of a sandwich has 16 grams in it so he could only eat 1 half but he had a full sandwich so he had to cut it in half.So we had people try and figure out what the diagonal the sandwich was so that Bill would know were to cut the sandwich. He did this so that he would eat the right amount of grains that day because his doctor says he can only eat 170 grams. We figured out that Bill would have to cut the diagonal at 9.19. We used the pythagorean theorem to figure out our problem
I learned that Jesus crucifixion brings hope to the hopeless because we all sin and Jesus Saved us from our sins. I also learned that It desires that forgiveness be granted because Jesus forgave all our sins when he died on the cross, so people desire that forgiveness be granted because were suppose to try and act like God so we need to forgive others.
One way that I saw God this weekend is in my devotions. I saw God through Abraham who was wiling to take his only son and sacrifice him to God and an offering, but God stopped him and provided a lamb for him to sacrifice instead.

The book The Genius Files Mission Unstoppable was written by Dan Gutman. The Genius Files Mission Unstoppable was about the two characters named Pepsi and Coke,(who were twins) and they got into tones of problems because they were smart. They were put in this super smart government group that created by this man named Dr. Warshaw. They were not allowed to leave the secret group because they were sworn to secrecy they couldn’t even tell their own parents. The secret government group didn’t end up working out so Dr Warshaw tried to kill all the kids who were apart of the group and he sent out two men in bowler hats and their teacher Mrs. Higgens to try and kill them but they failed so Dr. Warshaw tried to kill them himself but he failed instead of the kids dieing he died trying to kill them. In the book the Genius Files I learned that we need to talk to our parents about our troubles. Pepsi and Coke promised not to talk to their parents, and they faced many troubles and their parents couldn’t help them because they didn’t know that their children were facing these troubles.
One time this theme was show was when the twins were at the largest ball of twine in the world and Their teacher Mrs. Higgins tried to put and bomb on her car and drive it into the largest ball of twine in the world and blow it up. But Coke and Pepsi stopped her by dropping the rv’s human waste on her when she was seat belted in her car getting ready to go drive into the ball of twine. So Pepsi and Coke saved the largest ball of twine in the world and the people visiting it.
Another place where I learned this lesson if when when they went up this huge sand hill. The huge sand hill made noise when the wind blew it. It sounded like the sand was sing as the wind blew it. A man put them in a trench that was 7 ft. deep and he tried to make them die of thirst because it was so dry up in the sand, and if he let them die of thirst there would be no proof that he was the one that killed them. But they fought back and he was he one who almost died in the whole because he fell in with them because they knocked him out cold. That is why he fell into the hole. They used his sword and stabbed it into the sand and used it as a stair to get out of the trench
Another place I learned this lesson is when the twins were in the school. Their teacher Mrs. Higgins sent them into detention on the last day of school and while they were in detention she locked the detention room so the kids were trapped. After everyone left the school she started it on fire and tried to kill the twins, after the twins brook down the door the janitor Who’s name is bones came into the school and saved the twins by picking them up and running out of the school with them. He saved there lives because if he didn’t come and rescue them they would have died from the heat of the fire and smoke that was getting in their lunges.
In the book the Genius Files I learned that we need to talk to our parents about our troubles. These sentences represent this theme well because the twins were faced with many problem and they never told their parents but if they would have told their parents their problems wouldn’t have been as hard and scary because their parents would have looked out for them. I liked this book because it was filled with tons of action and mystery because I never knew what was coming next. That is why I’m going to read the other book of The Genius Files.
In the Phosphorus cycle rain comes down onto the earth and hill’s and mt. create run off. Which creates rock up lifting. Rock uplifting is when rock create mt.’s from earthquakes. After that come weathering of phosphate rocks. Which is when rocks become smooth from the weather. After phosphate rocks comes fertilizer. Fertilizer is something that helps plants and crops grow. After fertilizer come plants and crops. After plants and crops comes animals. Sometimes animals eat the plants or the plants and animals just die.
One way that I saw God this weekend was through the eclipse. I saw God in this because I could see his amazing creation and all of the unique things he created, such as the moon, sun, and all nature.
Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock.
Last year our grade went to camp and came up with a theme for 2015-2016. Our theme this year, “Built on the Rock”, means a lot to me as both an 8th grader at ZCS and as a Christian in the world.
This theme is a theme that is important to me at school. As an 8th grader this theme means to me that we need to show the younger kids at school that God if our foundation in which we should build our lives on. It also means to me that as an 8th grader we need to be good a example for the younger kids so that they know what it means to have a firm foundation in God’s love. This verse also means to me that as an 8th grader we need to act in a way that honors God. It also means that we need to honor God in everything we say and do.
This verse will also help me in the world and my future life. One way that his will help me in the world is that I will always remember that God is my foundation and rock. So if I have God as my foundation and rock I will stand strong in God’s love. This verse will also help me remember that if I listen to God’s words and put them into practice I would be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. It will also help me know that know matter what if I have a firm foundation with God as my rock I won’t have to worry because God is on my side.
Our theme this year, “Built on the Rock”, means a lot to me as both an 8th grader at ZCS and as a Christian in the world. I like this theme because it relates to our school because we have a standing stone thats in the floor and it look like the school is built around it. I also like this theme because it represents ZCS have a firm foundation that’s built on christ for 100 years.
The ladder reminds me of when I helped my dad build an addition onto a house. Sadly, when I worked with my dad on this addition, the sun felt as hot as a forest fire because it was 90 degrees. It was so hot I could feel the sweat running down my face. While I was working I had to move lots of ladders so that my dad could build quicker because he didn’t have to move the ladders they were already ready for him to start. When I was working I saw a mole and I smashed it with a piece of wood. One day day when we were working it rained really hard so we had to wait for the rain to stop. After the rain stopped we started to work and it was really humid because it was wet and hot.
The firework reminds me of the 4th of July when we got fireworks. On the 4th of July I asked my parents if we could buy some fireworks and shot them off that night. So me and my dad went to go get some fireworks and we ended up getting a huge box of fireworks that was as tall as a giraffe. That night we lit the fireworks and when they went up into the air I could see the awesome colors that they made. While we were lighting our fireworks we could here fireworks going of left and right. So we went to the fire station that’s across from our house and we watched other people light their fireworks. the only problem was that we live in the woods so it was hard to watch other peoples fireworks.
The flag reminds me of when I went in the dunes with my family. When I went in The dunes with my family, uncle, and aunt the vehicles in the dunes were as loud as a bomb. While we were in the dunes we watched some of the drag races. When I went up the dunes in my uncle’s truck I could feel the sand hitting my arm. We also watched someone do a wheelie for like 100 ft. We parked the trucks for a little bit and went swimming in lake Michigan for a little while also. On our way out of the dunes my cousin drove us and we went up the dunes one last time.
This summer I played lots of baseball, and we went to Indiana for one of our tournaments. This summer I also went golfing a few times and I didn’t do good because I haven’t golfed much. This summer summer I went to Chicago with my church for a service project. We helped trim trees and move things around and did lots of other stuff to help the school get ready for their school year. This summer I went to 2 tigers games one with just my dad and another with my family.
I think the new addition is awesome because there is air. I also like the new addition because the classroom have sliding doors.
African Union day is when you talk about a problem in Africa such as Burundi. You talk and debate about what should be done to solve these problems. You create a resolution with other countries or by yourself to figure out what should be done to solve the problems. Then all the countries would debate about the resolution and then vote to see if the resolution should pass.
The most significant thing I learned is that not all countries agree so it’s hard to come up with a solution for the problems. My favorite thing was debating and arguing with other countries. One thing I wished that was different is that we could do it for a longer time.
The relationship between Mandela and Francois Pinaar didn’t have a relationship because Francois’s father didn’t respect Mandela. Throughout the movie they began to know each other and their relationship became better, and better. This represented Africa because the apartheid had just ended and all people were now free and both races supported Spring Box. Even after all of the hardship that the whites put the black through.
