Paul’s Journey

One way God prepared Paul for a life of ministry is he had people teach Paul how to speak many different languages. Another way God helped him is that was Paul was actually training to be a pharisee before God spoke to him so that meant that Paul knew a lot of scripture. 2 things that God could use from me to help him. I grew up in a Christian school so I know a good amount of scripture. Another way I could help is something with young children because I really love helping with children.

PBL Project

We did a persecution project in class and the country that I had to study was Somalia. Somalia is number 3 on the world watch list because of clan oppression and family, friend, and church life oppression it is nearly impossible to be a Christian in Somalia. There is an estimate of 1,000 Christians in Somalia even though their population is over 1,000,000. The main religion in Somalia is Islam if you are not Islamic then when you are found out you are immediately persecuted. One thing I am proud of is that we went to the preschool to record our video for this project.

Stoning of Stephen

I baked a cake with Cora for my project.

What I think we did well was all of the piping designs because it took forever and went better then I though it would.

If I was at the Stoning of Stephen i would feel terrified. I would be scared because he would be dead in front of my face.

If people placed their coats at his feet while Stephen was being stoned I would be mad.

I think that the promise of a messiah would encourage the early Christians. They kept up their faith because of the disciples and to the fact that some of them saw Jesus die on the cross for their sins.

While The World Watched Reflection

The Children’s March

James Bevel had the idea of having children involved on this “D-day” there were roughly 1000 children arrested for walking in the street protesting for freedom. They came out in waves of fifty and they kept on coming and they kept on getting arrested. They were taken in paddy wagons until there were too many then they started taking them on school buses. They put all of the children in jail cells. The next day nicknames “double D-day” where twice as many children came. Bull Conner sent out the fire department and the police to use violence to get the children to stop marching. That violence was the fire department spraying the hoses at the kids, dogs biting them, and police beating them. All the kids kept on getting arrested and when all the jails were full they brought them into hog pens. But during this whole time, they just kept singing and kept all of their spirits high. This connects with Romans 12:9-21 “do not repay evil with evil.” because then the police caused violence and the children did not fight back.

Bible Exam

Covenants

A covenant is when God partners with us. There are different types of covenants. There are conditional covenants which are when both sides have to keep the covenant and unconditional covenants when one side keeps it no matter what. God made many covenants with the people of Isreal. During the times he made the covenant Israel broke every covenant that God made with them. Something I relate to this is signatures because they are signing something they agree to like you do in a covenant.

Names

Names have meaning. For example, El means powerful creator God and yhwh means loving and caring. The name I connected with was God almighty. I connected with this name because I feel God’s presence whenever something cool is happening. The visual I have is my passport. I picked this because it has my

name on it.

Conflict/doubt

We learned it is healthy to ask questions. When you do have questions to bring them to God. During this lesson, I connected to God because I found out that important people also struggle in their faith with God. The item I associated with this topic is a cross. I picked this one because Jesus was struggling with God about dying on a cross. Another reason I picked this is that the disciples also struggled with the cross.

Slavery/Salvation

We learned that our struggles become part of our story. We read about God rescuing the Israelites from slavery. When we read the story I was amazed at God because he kept giving the Israelites chances after they kept breaking them. The item I thought of for this one is a hospital. I choose this item because it is a place to go if you’re sick and need to have help. This item relates because being cured is salvation and slavery is the illness.

Sinai Law

This law reflects God’s wisdom. All of us are surrounded by golden calves. One of the golden calves in my life is in sports. When I’m playing sports I often do things I wouldn’t do in real life. An example of something like that is when I was playing soccer I shoved someone trying to get to the ball like me and I wanted to get it so I shoved her. It didn’t end up good because the coach came over and got mad but in the end everything was fine.

A Savior

All of the old testament is God making brokenness whole thought Jesus. There is a lot of brokenness in the world. Some of the brokenness is murder, war, and poverty. All of these topics can be caused by the violence of some sort. The item that I associated with this is a cross. I choose this item because a savior to everyone is Jesus and he died on a cross.

Salute To A King

In this Isreal wants a king also known as a Melek. God in this story wants a nagid to guide people to God. the Problem with the Israelites wanting a king is that kings can get distracted from God. God on the other hand can’t get distracted from what is good. An object I associated with this is a fork. I choose this Item because it has different ways that it could lead you like a king.

Slide To Destruction

Because Isreal sins they are sent into exile. But even though they are exiled through prophets and promises God is with them. I connected with the part where God was with them even though they can’t see him. When I went to the upper peninsula I felt God through nature because it was amazing. The visual I picked for this is my grandparents. I picked my grandparents because they are always there to help.
