“Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock.  The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock.

In May, our 8th grade choose a theme for the upcoming year. Our theme this year, “Built on the Rock”, means a lot to me as both an 8th grader at ZCS and as a Christian in the world.

What this theme means to me as an 8th grader at ZCS, is the fact to be a leader to others. We are the foundation for the others this year. Just like all the rocks we put under the entrance. This year we can represent God to others, meaning the 7th, 6th, and all the other grades here. If we are poor leaders, and a poor foundation, we will collapse, because everyone will want to follow our example. That’s what this years theme means to me.

As a Christian in general, outside of just our school, it’s similar. Instead of just representing how I should act for younger kids, it’s how I should act representing Christianity. If I’m a jerk to people, and show no kindness to people, then that’s what people will assume Christians can be like. I want to be a good foundation, and representative, not a bad one. If you think about Christianity, you think of things that Christians do and how they act. So as a Christian I should be a good foundation for Christianity.

Our theme this year, “Built on the Rock”, means a lot to me as both an 8th grader at ZCS and as a Christian in the world. I should be a good leader, representative, and foundation for others, both in school and outside of it. I have to live as God wants me to, and use my gifts to follow him, and show others about him through me.
