God at Work

In Bible class, we have been studying Paul and his ministry. There are 4 things that helped Paul in his ministry and they were. He was a tentmaker, had a Roman citizenship, had a private tutor so he was very well educated and smart, he also preached to Gentiles (none Jews) because Jews were already religious and knew all the stories.

God has been at work in me by helping me show love to all. He has been making me more patient and has made me realize that we all are created in God’s image. Some elements of my past God is using to further his kingdom are, he has made me become very familiar with forgiveness, I always need to be forgiven quite often either by my parents, or my friends. He has also helped me learn how to forgive others, sometimes it’s hard for me to forgive others, he is making me see that everyone needs forgiveness no matter who they are or what they did. I hope that I can continue to forgive people just like God wants me to.

Volcano Project

My group and I modeled our volcano after Mount Etna in Italy!  The volcano is a composite volcano and is currently active. We added 8 little flags of things on and in our volcano, things like the pipe, magma chamber, crater, vent, side vent, lava flow, layers of lava, and layers of ash. We also made a cross section in our volcano, and we drew the layers of ash and lava and the pipe and magma chamber so you could see it. It ended up looking super cool and I am very proud of it! We also made a poster explaining the volcano.

Christian Persecution Project

This year in Bible and L.A. class we studied Christian persecution. I studied Christian persecution In Eritrea. It was awesome talking to lots of people and telling them about Eritrea. At our table, we had a poster in the back that had statistics of the religions in Eritrea and where it is. We baked cookies and people could buy the cookies and the money would be donated to the Voice of the Martyrs. We made a board game this is basically a day in the life of a Christian in Eritrea (Kind of like the game of Life.) They experienced what Christians there have to go through and what risks they face. We had a video that told you about what the government does and explained the persecution. It had some stories in it and in the end, it said what are people doing to help and what you can do.

Marshmallow and noddles tower

Are bottom of the tower is a box with braces across them so they would stay. There is a nest at the top to try to hold the egg. We have a noodle to the side of it to balance it out. We have tape and marshmellows holding the noodles in.

Theme Writing

1 John 4:10-11

This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.

I think one of the biggest challenges we have as a grade is loving everyone we kind of just brush it off because we know that other people love them and God love’s them. But what are theme this year is about is getting lost in God’s unconditional love by loving others and spreading that love to others. We can show our theme, Lost in Love, to others in our school and to people in the world.

I can show this theme many ways at school. To me this theme means to love everyone like God does so much that we get lost in his love. Some ways we can do this in the school are, saying hello to littler kids as they walk down the hallways. I remember when my oldest brother was in middle school some of his friends would always say hello to me in the halls and that would make me very happy. Another way we can show love is to, include everybody in everything. No one should be left out of anything, if you see someone eating alone at lunch join them and if you don’t know them that we’ll get to know them. One more way we can show love in the school is to, treat teachers and classmates with respect. We should always treat everybody with love and respect. If we don’t are we really getting lost in God’s love?

As Christians, we can also show this theme to the world. One way we can show this to the world is to always pray for things, praying is a peaceful and intimate way to talk to God. We can tell him our problems and worries or just have a nice chat with him he is always listening. Praying for people in tough situations is always a good thing. Another way we can show this theme around the world is, teaching others about God it doesn’t have to be actually talking about God it could be through your actions, making people see God’s love through what you do always. Making other people get lost in God’s ever last love. Another good way that could be applied to school and anywhere was to love everyone like God does. God loves everyone equally so we should also love everyone.

We can show our theme, Lost in Love, to others in our school and to people in the world. In conclusion, this year will be a great year! I can’t wait to see everyone love everyone and get lost in God’s unconditional love.

Beginning of year Reflections.

One thing you have enjoyed in school this year.

I really have enjoyed some of the little projects we’ve done, the teachers make them fun and actually enjoyable.

One thing you have learned you have learned in school this year.

I have learned that there is much more homework this year and more things are graded then past year. I am very happy that teachers give us time to work on homework because I like getting my homework done.

One thing you are looking forward to this year.

I am looking forward to the play this year.

Boat Project

Me and my group hope that the balloon would push it forward, but it didn’t work. We ended up just using a simple sail. We got first place with out boat. I don’ t think we need any more changes to out boat. If we did make changes I would want to add a straw and balloon or make the sail taller.

Summer of 2017

I did a lot of things this summer, one of my favorites was going to Washington D.C. with my family. We saw all the monuments did an escape room. I also went camping with my cousins from Ohio. We went swimming, hiking, and just hung out. My grandparents got a new dog so I spent a lot of time playing with the new puppy! Every year for the 4th of July we go up to my Uncle and Aunts cottage and just have fun swimming, talking, jet skiing, and boating. I did a lot of sleeping in which was desperately needed considering for the past months i’ve got up at 6:00 am. I also hung out with my friends this summer. I went to dogarama in Zeeland and saw all the cute puppies and dogs. My summer also consisted of lots of baking which I like to do.

Book review

Breathing Room

By: Marsha Hayles

Realistic fiction

The setting of this book is a dirty old hospital room in the 1940’s. The other gives very good details about the setting she makes you feel like you are actually there experiencing every thing. The hospital room has about 4 beds in it and a door that leads to a hallway. A window overlooks a big tree and the floors are dusty.

The main characters name is Evvy Hoffmeister a 13 year old girl with a disease called tuberculosis. The author really makes Evvy feel like a real person she is stubborn and has a one track mind like some people we can all relate to her. All the characters in the book are different which is what makes the book unique no one is the same. If I hadn’t had liked one of the characters I think I would still continue to read the book because of how good it is. Evvy also had a twin brother, her twin brother writes her letters everyday. Evvy and her family are German and being German then people would treat you different and think you are bad, so she trys to keep her real self a secret.

Evvy gets admitted into a hospital call Loon Lake because she has TB . The nurses there are very mean and she barley ever gets to see her family. In her room there are 4 other girls with the same thing. The book is basically telling about her time there and how diffreent it is.

Why are some of of the nurses at Loon Lake so mean?

Will all her friends at Loon Lake be able to go home?

Does reading the letters that her brothers sends her make her want to come home?

Why is Loon Lake so creepy?

Can they ever cure Evvy?

I give this book a 9 star because it is really interesting because of the time it takes place in. think this book really captures what it was like for people with TB because back then it was incurable. You get to see what they did back then in hospitals.

AU Day

Identify 2+ issues that were debated in trying to impact democracies.

A issue that was discussed was mobile voting booths so that people could take them to rural areas and have them vote. Another issue that was discussed was, education for poorer kids and adults in rural areas.

Do you think these would make a difference?

Yes I think the would make a difference because then the country could get more votes, and not just the people who have the convince to vote can vote, people who normally don’t get the chance to vote can vote with the mobile voting booths. Education for kids would make a difference because then there would be more people educated in African, also since the adults could be educated too that could make a difference.

What did you enjoy?

I enjoyed listening in on all of the arguments and what people had to say. Hearing other peoples opinions was very interesting.

What was the hardest part of this project?

The hardest part of this project was, making the resolutions it took our groups a long time to figure out what we should say. It was also hard to keep track of everything that was happening, I got confused  a lot  during the voting.
