“Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; Yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock.”

Matthew 7:24-25

At the end of the 7th grade year we went to Camp Roger. Camp Roger is a time where we have fun, play games, and do super fun activities. More importantly we learn what it it takes to be a leader and the expectations we have. In learning how to be a leader we split into groups to decide the theme for next year. This theme goes so well with our 8th grade year at Zeeland Christian because we have a foundation built on God at ZCS and that foundation has been growing for a 100 years. This year is a 100 years at Zeeland Christian and we got to welcome our new addition which is amazing because we get to welcome in new classmates and new teachers that get a tramendince amount of space to teach. Our theme this year, “Built on the Rock”, means a lot to me as both an 8th grader at ZCS and as a Christian in the world.

This is my 8th grade year at zeeland christian and I’m excited for it but sad because it’s my last year here at Zeeland Christian. This year holds a lot of responsibilities and I’m ready to take them on. Being an 8th grader here is awesome because we’re the leaders and one of my skills is being a leader and I want to set a good example on the younger kids and the kids in my grade. It’s even more of a challenge because we’re in the new addition and it is super nice and even we want to play with the stuff but if the kids see us doing that than they think they get to do it which isn’t ok. But being an 8th grader here is so amazing because this is where my second family is at and this is where God is at. Zeeland Christian has built a strong foundation on God for the last 100 years. God has been with this school through the good and bad times and he has always brought us out the bad ones is a special way. It is a privilege to be the class that graduates on the 100th year of ZCS. This 8th grade year is so important to me to build relationships with others but more importantly with God. Especially as I grow up and will be coming across big situations in my life that I need God in, but I know that God is with me in the easy things in life and in the big things.

Being a christian in this world is an amazing thing but we can’t just say we’re a christian and not do what a christian does. We have to go out and do what Jesus put us on this earth for, which is to “GO” and make disciples. Go out and preach the word of God to people of all size, color, gender, etc. God made each and everyone of us in his image so if we are judging people by their look or what they eat or anything than we are making fun of God’s art work and God didn’t put us on this earth to make fun of his creation. He put us on this earth share, express, and worship his creation. The greatest thing about God is that he gives everyone a chance to be a christian. He gives everyone the chance to have eternal life with Him. And as a christian we have to help people want

to have eternal life with God and want to go out at preach the word of God to others. Being a christian in this world can be a scary thing for some people because some people are persecuted for worshiping God and those people are the strongest believers because they know that God is the center of everything and he has a plan for all of us and we need to follow his plan and not veer off of it.

Our theme this year, “Built on the Rock”, means a lot to me as both an 8th grader at ZCS and as a Christian in the world. This verse means a lot to me especially that it is the 100th year at Zeeland Christian and we are the graduating class. This is going to be an amazing last year at Zeeland Christian and because we have been growing an amazing foundation built right on God at ZCS. And in building that foundation our school has grown closer as friends, community, and a family.
