Newsletter 12: End of week 11

Reflections on our week…

Dear Families,
I hope you are enjoying this short week and having a great time during your Thanksgiving celebration. This is our second week together and because it was short I wanted to join these weeks together and just send you one newsletter. This week we learn that even the difficulties we need to have a thankful heart. God is with us every day and we have a new opportunity every morning. Students are writing sentences each morning that make them feel confident and is a great challenge for them.

I don’t want to leave this blog without saying THANKYOU for all your help, for the great job you do as parents, and for all the help you give us to the teachers here at ZSC.

Reflections on our week…

Dear Families,

This week we learn more about the fruits of the Spirit and how they help us to become better people in different ways. We found joy in our daily activities and learning together. Discover the love of God in the way we can help others and treat them with patience and kindness. We can be gentle and have self-control when we play and work with other classmates.
Most of all, have faith in God and trust Him.

We are done with the AALPA evaluations!

I hope you too had a great week!

Enjoy your weekend,

Maestra Solis

Newsletter 10: Week ending November 4

Reflections on our week…

Dear Families,

We had a wonderful week. Full of happiness and emotions. We wanted to start by saying thank you for all the love and support you have given us as teachers and to the rest of our classmates.
We have been working on the AALPA evaluation for Language Arts. In Math, we started to use FRECKLE. It is a web page, not an app. Students have been enjoying working with it, if you want to you may continue working at home also. Remember we don’t have school the next Friday.

I hope you too had a great week!

Enjoy your weekend,

Maestra Solis

AALPA: The add.a.lingua language proficiency assessment (AALPA) is a helpful tool for teachers to monitor students’ language growth over time. There are 3 sections: interpretive, interpersonal, and presentational. I describe the AALPA to the kids as a fun project we do so I can see what they know and what they’re ready to learn next. We began the AALPA last week and I’m so proud of how hard the kids are working! They are focused on trying their best and I’m proud of them for trying something new! Even though it’s hard, they are persevering. I’m doing my best to make extra moments of fun and relaxation in our classroom since the time we focus on AALPA is hard work!
