Newsletter 2: Week ending 9/1

Just a Note

We’re super proud of your kids for their hard work learning to do 1st grade together! We read the Bucketfillers book by Carol McCloud our first week of school and we’re getting closer to filling our class bucket by doing kind and loving things! We also began a system for encouraging us to use only Spanish in our classroom. At the beginning of each week students are given 10 gems. They can earn more for speaking awesome Spanish or get gems taken away if they speak English. On the last day of the week the gems (including extras!) they still have equal that many minutes of choice time. The gems they got taken away are extra minutes to practice speaking Spanish with a teacher. Your kids are working so hard at keeping our classroom environment special by staying in the target language! We know they can do it!

Newsletter 1: Week ending 8/25

Just a Note

What a great first week! We continue to talk a lot about our classroom being like a family. Most of us don’t live together, but we do spend a lot of time together! That’s why it’s so important to love each other, respect and celebrate our differences, and help each other when we need it! We’re really enjoying getting to know your kids and we think they’re excited about connecting with one another too!
