Reading Zastrow

I will write a review of the book The Power Within by Chuck Norris:

This book goes to different points in Chuck Norris’ life were he experienced and used the force of zen. It is a combination of an autobiography and a straightforward informational book.

The book starts with an introduction to zen, which is a “force” that comes from Buddhist practices. Chuck Norris was introduced to the force from his extensive Tae Kwon Do training in Korea and at his dojo in California. It also talks about his childhood, his relationship with Bruce Lee, and the time he spent in the army. He thinks of the force as more of a way of thinking and uses the way of thinking as a sort of philosophy inside his Christian religion. He tells ancient stories told from zen masters and talks about the teachings of zen. A really interesting book for someone who knows nothing about Buddhism.

My favorite part was when he talked about his relationship with Bruce Lee. I never realized the two were so close, Bruce actually gave Chuck his first film appearance.

I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys martial arts.
