Pinball Wizard: Newtons Laws of Motion

on November 26, 2013

Newtons laws of motion!

  • Law #1 the law of inertia

  • what it said

    • an object in rest will remain at rest unless acted on by an unbalanced force. An object in motion continues in motion with the same speed and in the same direction unless acted upon by an unbalanced force

  • what happened

    • well when what was blocking it will knock it off because it was in motion so it wants to stay in motion but when you start to push it it does not want to be pushed so you need to use your strength.

the ball will stay in motion till the game is over and then it wil stay in rest until some one plays

Newtons law of motion

  • Law #2 F=ma

    • Acceleration is produced when a force acts on a mass. the greater the mass ( of the object being accelerated ) the greater the amount of force needed ( to accelerate the object ).

    • the greater the mass the less it will move the less the mass it will move faster.

if the ball is heveay it wont go as fast and it could get stuck in a tight space

Newtons #3 Law of motion

  • the Law of Force-Pairs

    • For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction.

if there is a action or a reaction the ball wont move.

    Anika,

I love how you gave the definition of each of Newton’s Laws and your definitions were detailed. I also like how you separated each law and made them easy to find and read.

I would like to know more about each of the examples you gave for each of the laws. For Newton’s first law, you say that the ball will stay in motion until the end of the game. What stops that ball at the end of the game?

Can you explain your example a bit more for Newton’s third law? I think adding more detail to your example could help a bit.

You did a great job with this and I like that you connected each law with your pinball machine.

    Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
