I read “The best Halloween ever” and a lesson to be learned is don’t make rash stupid decisions. The author of “The best Halloween ever” is Barbara Robinson. This is a story about the Herdmas and all the trouble they cause. There are 6 of them; Ralph, Imogene, Leroy, Claude, Ollie and Gladys plus a crazy cat. In this one in specific the Herdmans make them take away Halloween.

An example in the book of how it shows that you should’t make rash decisions is when they took away Halloween. All the kids got mad and Halloween wasn’t fun at all. You shouldn’t ever took away Halloween or lots of people will be mad.
Another example of when they made a rash decision when they shouldn’t have is when Alice tried to make the best costume and made the electricity go out. She thinks that she always has to have the best, most flashy costumes ever. It made all the power go out and everyone got scared.

My final example of when people make a rash decision is when the kids decided to listen to go into the revolving door at the bank with the Herdmans. That story goes something like this, Ralph had said let’s see how many kids can fit into the door. They got 8, but they had to call the fire department to get them out. The weirdest thing is that the Herdmans liked to do stuff with fish so the guard was guarding the fish tank and didn’t even think about the revolving door.

Matthew 7:24-25 24

“Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. 25 The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock.

We went to camp last spring and we chose our theme verse. Our theme this year, “Built on the Rock”, means a lot to me as both an 8th grader at ZCS and as a Christian in the world.

This theme verse is important to me as an 8th grader. I think that if I keep my foundation on Christ that I’ll be able to be a good example for the littler kids. I also think that it’s a good verse because of the 100 year anniversary. God has blessed us with 100 years of keeping or foundation on Christ. I also think that it’s cool because when we all put the rocks in the foundation and our verse is about having our foundation on the rock. I think that we need to act on this verse all year!

This theme verse is important to me as a christian in the world. I think that I need to keep my foundation on Christ and to teach others to keep their foundation on Christ. If I don’t have my foundation on Christ like the foolish man I’ll get caught in the devils ways. I need to help all around me do their best to keep their foundation on Christ. I think this is a very important verse for my everyday life.

Our theme this year, “Built on the Rock”, means a lot to me as both an 8th grader at ZCS and as a Christian in the world. This verse is very important to me.

Descriptive Writing

The stoplight card reminded me of being stopped at a stoplight with my crazy dog and a guy in the car next to ours.  We were in the car riding to my cottage. It was taking one thousand years and we were hoping for some fun. I was watching out the window and as we came to a stop I saw this guy in the car next to ours. He started waving at my dog, and I figured he was just trying to show off to his girlfriend that was in the car next to him. Then my mom told us we were going to have a little fun. I watched as she grabbed my dog’s paw and waved at the guy in the car next to ours. We all laughed and laughed and laughed along with the guy in the car next to ours and his girlfriend. That’s one moment I won’t forget.

The hour glass card reminded me of the last few minutes when we were at our cottage running out of time there.  When we were at our cottage we were just finishing our laundry and then we were going to leave to go home. I decided to warm up a hamburger from the last night to eat for a supper. Once I was done I sat down in the living room and watched TV with my family and we were watching some sort of cop show where they try to figure out who committed the crime and it had just asked us which answer we should do to help the investigation and was going to give us the answer, then all the sudden the TV turned off. I was as confused as confused as a chameleon in a bag of Skittles. Then I looked around and I saw that the oven and microwave clocks weren’t working and the air conditioner had turned off. The power had gone out. We checked with our grandparents who have a cottage next to ours and their power had also gone out. We called the power company and they came and fixed it but that was definitely in interesting way to end our time at the cottage.

The anchor card reminded me of when we all tried to pull to many people behind our little boat BOB (Big Orange Boat). My cousins and my family share a cottage up north and we have a very little boat that struggles to even pull up two people. It’s as old as my great grandpas age.  We thought we’d try three of us first. Me my brother Nate who’s in his second year in high school and my cousin Tyler who has graduated high school last year. It went well but still was a struggle to get up. Then we decided we’d try to do five people behind BOB. We had me, my brother Nate, my cousin Tyler, Tyler’s brother Austin who was knee boarding, and my dad who was also kneeboarding. We started. I was almost up, but BOB was struggling. We made it like one fifth of the way. We tried again and made it less than the last time. My little brother, Jonah, that is now in sixth grade was spotting and we thought that he might be able to do it. He didn’t want to so we begged him and begged him. He finally said he would and he replaced Austin. When we went I was up, so I looked to my sides. I saw everyone but Jonah up, my dad was going towards Jonah to try and help him up, but his arms gave out. We tried one more time with Jonah but it didn’t work. So Jonah went into the boat and we did it with just Tyler, me, Nate and Dad. We got up much easier than with five people and we went one and a half laps! It was a lot of fun.

Consumo

Quienes somos:

Me gusta ayudar y quiero hacerlo.
