Theme Writing

Psalms 19:3-4 – “They have no speech, they use no words, no sound is heard from them. Yet their voice goes out into all the earth, their words to the end of the world.”

Last year, back when we were 7th graders, we went to Camp Roger to learn how to be good 8th grade leaders of our school. We gathered into groups to choose our theme. We ended up choosing a theme from Psalms 19:3-4. The theme we choose with that verse is “Shout Silently – Actions that Speak.” I can use the theme in many ways, not only in school, but also in the world or at home.

During school, I can use the theme in different ways. I can help someone with homework if they don’t get it even if I am busy. I could also help somebody pick up something when they drop it even though I don’t need to help, I need to be a good person and help them out. When I see someone alone, I could go talk to them and include them even when I am busy or doing something with other people. I can say “hi” to someone when they walk in to school or when I see them I could just say “hi” and make them feel welcome. I also need a have a good attitude and be a good example on the sports field. I need to have a good sportsmanship to my teammates and to my opponents.

In the world, I can also use the theme in many ways. I can help my family when they need help even if I wasn’t asked, because we are servants of the Lord and the Lord tells us to “Honor your Father and Mother” and serving them fits that commandment. When my parents ask me to do something, I have to have a positive attitude even though I don’t want to do it, I still need to be positive and that we make their day and my day better. I also can hang out with cousins or other family even though I don’t want to hang out with them, I still should because they want to and I need to be a good example by talking and hanging out with them. I could also help my brother out with some off the stuff he needs to do because I need to be helpful to him and to others. I also need to work around the house, not only with being asked, but without having a reward for it either. They let me live there and they provide me with food everyday, so why should I need a reward for helping them.

I can use the theme in many ways, not only in school, but also in the world or at home. When we went to Camp Roger last May, I learned how to be a good leader in the school and how to incorporate the theme into everyday life. I learned what I could do to use the theme in school and the world/home.
