En nuestro proyecto de la Corte Suprema yo estaba un experto. El caso que estudiamos fue de que es constitucional orar antes de una junta de ayuntamiento, con los lados de la ciudad de Greece y Susan Galloway. (vive en Greece, NY) Yo escribí un papel acerca de la Primera Enmienda, y a mi me gustó viendo el corte, y también fue muy divertido porque podíamos interactuar también en la corte y no solo sentar en el atrás. Yo aprendí que es importante pensar en lo que es constitucional y bueno para el país. Aprendí mucho sobre los dos lados del argumento, y fue muy cerca, pero en el fin el lado de Galloway ganó. Este caso impacte al país mucho, porque si se va para el lado de Galloway, se elimina la práctica de orar como nuestros padres hicieron. Por el otro lado, si se va por el lado de Greece, viola los derechos de las personas de otros religiones.

Ayer, yo fui a una milonga en Argentina. Fue un buen experiencia para mi. Las personas bailaban el tango muy complicadamente, aunque yo solo sé unos pasos. En el fin, podía bailar un poquito, pero el mejor parte fue viendo los Argentinos bailar. ¡Deberías de estar allí conmigo! No pienso que podría bailar como ellos, pero habían muchos diferentes tipos de tango, porque originó de los inmigrantes que vinieron a sudamérica, entonces todos tienen un pensamiento diferente de como bailar el tango. El tango es un baile muy interesante, y aunque no lo bailé mucho, pienso que te gustaría saber como bailarlo. Alguna vez te llevaré a una milonga para ver a las personas por su propio.

Mi historia de mi viaje al nuevo mundo empieza en Poptrópica. Yo fui una persona de Rey Minkus el Quinto. El Rey nos dió una opción de ir a un nuevo mundo, entonces pensé que sería buena idea de empezar algo nuevo y, más importante, ganar dinero para el Rey. No fue fácil viajar por todo el tiempo en el barco para llegar al nuevo mundo, pero no importa ahora porque he empezado un nuevo ciudad con unas personas y va muy bién para nosotros. Yo no soy el líder, pero todos tenemos contribución de ideas para la ciudad.

Nuestro pueblo se llama “Villa de Anna” y está ubicado cerca a las montañas, y tenemos un río para agua. Por eso, nuestro pueblo tiene una molina, y un puente. El centro de la ciudad tiene muchos lugares para todas las personas. Tenemos un ayuntamiento, herrero, escuela, iglesia, y un lugar donde tenemos nuestros animales. También tenemos calles alrededor del centro. Alrededor de esto tenemos las casas para todas las personas, y también nosotros, que están ubicados cerca al río. Nuestro cementerio está por afuera de todo, y la mina de oro está en las montañas.

What was one character that changed?

One of the characters that changed during the movie “Invictus” was Francois, the captain of the Springboks. At the beginning, he was a very downcast person who was against the black people of South Africa, but throughout the movie he changed into someone who felt supported by his country with the help of Nelson Mendela, the president of South Africa. At first, he was completely against all black people, but the president helped him change into someone who loves his country in the end.

What most impacted me from the movie?

The thing that impacted me the most from the movie was the fact that a sport, like rugby, could impact a country that much and change their perspective on discrimination. They finally got to work together as one country. It made me think about how important it is to work together.

What did I learn?

I learned a lot about the water titration when I did that on the boat trip. I learned a lot about plancton, and other tiny things in the water. I also learned that there are many different in invasive species in the Great Lakes, such as the  quagga and zebra mussels. I found out that the quagga mussels are actually found more than zebra mussels. They have taken over more lake than the zebras, and it really surprised me, because I had never heard of the quagga mussels before, yet there are more of them than the zebras.

Comparing Spring Lake and Lake Michigan…

There are many differences between Spring Lake and Lake Michigan. First of all, Spring Lake was a very eutrophic lake, whereas Lake Michigan was oligotrophic. They were like polar opposites. Lake Michigan had a lot less plancton density and was a lot less murky, and a lot colder, even though it is a lot bigger. The colors were a lot different too. Lake Michigan had a greenish-blue color, but the Spring Lake water was a lot more blue. Those lakes were very different.

My Favorite Educational Part…

My favorite educational part of the boat trip was learning how to use some of the instruments and learning about the trophic states.

Mi parte favorita de la actividad de la Unión Africana fue cuando hicimos los debates con los comités e hicimos los resoluciones para nuestra problema. Fue muy divertido hacer una reunión muy similar al reunión de la Unión Africana y hacerlo muy profesional con ropa que se vea muy profesional. También pienso que fue muy bien hacer un actividad que hace que las personas pueden expresar sus ideas para que todos pueden oír. Después de hacer esto, aprendí mucho sobre mi. Ahora yo sepo que soy una persona que le gusta hablar y hablar para que la persona entienda lo que estoy diciendo. Siempre quiero que me entienden y sepan que quiero decir y que vean mi punto. Me hace tan triste cuando no pueden entenderme, y pienso que es muy interesante que no sabía esto antes. Ahora que esta actividad ya se terminó, yo quiero vivir diferente. Ahora quiero ser mas atento a lo que está pasando en el mundo, porque hay mucho conflicto en Malí, y no yo sabía esto antes de que hicimos este proyecto. Quiero conocer los necesidades de las personas del mundo.

At the beginning of class today, we talked about Africa. My first impression of Africa was all kinds of animals in the Sahara and small houses with not very much water. The simulation that we did about different things in Africa like the economy, education, technology, and health really got me thinking. A lot of kids don’t get an education and can die because of HIV/AIDS because they cant get any medication. A lot of them are also orphans because of that. It really breaks my heart knowing that there are many people suffering over there. They don’t have much technology, and only the developed countries even have cell phones that many kids in our country have. After this lesson I learned that Africa is really different from us and there are a lot of problems that need to be solved there. I had no idea that it was this serious. It makes you feel like you need to help them, and even not complain when something that is so normal for us is not working out when the people in Africa don’t have very much. Also today, we talked about the different people, and you wouldn’t believe how many people that I thought weren’t African actually really were. I makes me think about how many different languages and culture there are there, especially compared to use on the US. I think a lot differently about Africa now.

¡Hola! ¿Como están? Yo conozco a un lugar magnifico donde ustedes deben ir. Quiero que viajen a Managua, Nicaragua. Es un lugar muy fantástico y hay un parque nacional: La loma de Tiscapa. Es necesario que traiguen zapatos para caminar mucho porque puedes caminar por el bosque y ver a todas las plantas. Hay otros lugares, como museos que tienen muchos artifactos e historia sobre Nicaragua. Hace falta que manejen a el océano para ver su belleza. Si deciden ir, espero que tengan un buen tiempo.

Careless Camille

This is Careless Camille.

She lives in curly coral and coconut trees, Connecticut and castles

Camille eats cases of caviar, carrots, cats, and cantaloupe.

She likes clapping and caroling, cake and county carnivals.

Camille climbed into my creamy cream puff

And caught my Coke before it would crash.

In science, we took an egg and dissolved it in vinegar in a cup over the weekend. My group then put our egg in Pepsi to see what would happen. We left that in for 24 hours, and then we saw that the Pepsi turned the egg brown, but when we popped the egg, we saw that the Pepsi didn’t affect the yolk at all. The membrane of the egg didn’t let any Pepsi in. That egg was somewhat similar to a cell. The membrane of a cell only doesn’t let anything in except for oxygen and water, and the membrane of our egg didn’t let in any Pepsi.
