Reflecting As a Learner…

1. Content… In science, we’re learning about the layers of the earth. We got to use an egg as a model of the earth. We had to see which part of the egg was what part of earth, and how that affected the creation of an earthquake. In Art, we’re learning about lines. There are only 3 kinds of lines. Horizontal, Vertical, and another I can’t remember. We had to figure out how to line everything up so that all lines ended at the vanishing point. In math, I’m learning about proportions, and ratios and how they can be equivalent. In Language Arts, we’re learning about how different information can come from different sources, like a picture, an article, or a video.

2. Skills… In math, I’m learning about how to make ratios, and how there can be equivalent ratios, just like with fractions. 1:2 = 2:4. In Art, we’re learning how to draw the 3 kinds of lines, from a one point perspective. How to make all lines end at the vanishing point. In Language Arts, we’re learning how to look for information on the computer, and then abbreviate it when writing it down, in a way so that we’ll remember it later, but won’t have to write information down word for word.

3. The Best way I learn… I like math a lot, because I can go at my own pace. If I don’t understand something, I don’t have to go on, I can go back through it and get in my head. I like to learn at a pace where I can actually learn. I like working in groups sometimes, but other times, the members of the group get in the way of getting anything done, or learning anything. I think that if I’m going to get a project done, I’ll do it with a group as long as they are willing and motivated to get it done.
