My book is called Nevermore by James Patterson. In the book this girl named Max has to save the world. Yes, that’s right, a girl. Anyhow this girl has escaped death, and has some serious ninja skills. Oh, and by the way she has wings. So at first the book starts out with the flock (Max, Iggy, Dylan, Angel, Gazzy, and Nudge. There was another one but he left,) at a school. They tried to fit in, but that didn’t quite work. So this guy that left the flock is named Fang. He left to go make his own flock of mutants. (Also some evil scientist guys are trying to take over the world by killing all of the humans and replacing them with humans.) He does this, but then he gets attacked and a member dies and he leaves the flock he made and heads back to Max and the gang. (just so you know, Max has a voice inside her head that tells her what to do.) So skipping a few dozen chapters they go onto an island and they decide to stay, but then Dylan said he saw something huge in the sky coming straight down and he didn’t know what it was so they had to get into the caves. Max didn’t believe him so she stays and before she could really do anything else the sky goes up in flames and the air turns super hot. Angel then tells her to go down to the caves and she should listen to her like she listened to the voice, but she doesn’t believe her and her and fang fly up into the air only to come crashing down to the ground and to get swallowed up by a tsunami. I noticed that throughout this book there was a theme, and that theme was Never give up.

Max didn’t give up when the bomb blew up. When the bomb blew up at the 99 percenter rally (find out this when you read the book) Angel and Gazzy were caught inside of the blast. Gazzy escaped. Angel did not. Later when they are at their house the alarms go off in the middle of the night. Everyone wakes up and goes on high alert and goes outside to see Fang walking towards the house. They all are super happy to see him. Later when they are inside Fang tells Max that he might know where Angel is. They fly to the school, the place they were first made. They find it burning and bubbling with smoke. They force their way inside the school and they find Angel and get her out.

Max didn’t give up when Jeb told her Fang had to die. When Jeb found out that Fang’s DNA held the next step to invincibility he knew he had to kill him to extract the DNA from him to get it. So he went to the flocks house with a hundred erasers (human wolf hybrids) and tried to kill him, but did that stop Max. NO. She fought until they all died before they killed Fang, well most of them. When they killed their leader Ari they all kind of died because they think they were all linked up to him.

Dylan didn’t give up when Max almost died. After he got everyone to safety he went back to find Max, except he didn’t find her. He looked for her and finally found her beneath the waves. He dove to the depths of the oceans and brought her to shore. She woke up safe and sound, alive. She then went to the cliffs with everyone else and stared at the sunset. She then said that this was the time, the time of Maximum Ride.

Never give up. I loved this book. The book and the series were really good and the writing was astonishing from James Patterson. I just recently discovered that there was a new book, the real, final ending to the Maximum Ride series called Forever. I want it super bad. Anyways the book was really good. Action-packed and full of mystery and adventure with a little bit of drama. Overall one of the best series/book I ever read.

The Carbon Cycle

The carbon cycle is the cycle of carbon. the cycle ‘starts’ with co2 in the air. It then goes into trees and the trees change it into oxygen using photosythesis It then goes into the ground and the cows eat the grass that has the co2 in it. then it poops it out and the poop is used for fossil fuel. that fossil fuel is then burned and the smoke contains co2 that goes back into the air.

Therefore he whoever hears these words and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock

The theme this year was a really hard choice to make. When it came down to the final two I had to make a choice, and that choice was built on the rock. The theme this year set a goal for me. Be built on the rock and you will never fall away.

The theme this year means to me, as an eighth grader, that we need to be built on the rock. We need him more than anything in the world and if we don’t have him we will be like the sandy house. The rain came down, (people encouraged you to something else), the streams rose, (it became a habit to not go to church or to read your bible), and the winds blew and beat against that house, (they tore your faith down), and that house fell down. I think that it is important to have your own relationship with God, and to do kind things. If your friend falls, pick him up. If you see someone down, cheer them up.

Never leave a friend in need stay in need, as Jesus said, “I was hungry and you fed me. I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink.”(don’t know what verse this was)

The theme this year means to me in my personal christian life that I need to stay strong in my faith. In my life I don’t think that I have been very clear through my faith, as in that I need to follow through with it. I usually say that I am a christian, but am I really? I think I need to learn more about God and take my faith to the next level. I need to be in Christ, with Christ, I need to be built on Christ. I need to be built on the rock!

In conclusion we need to be in Christ. Because if we are built on the rock we will never fall away.

The suitcase card reminded me of my fishing trip to Canada.

The morning started with the wonderful feeling of the preposterous, itchy,  mosquito bites. We then had our beautiful breakfast as the smell of bacon, eggs, and pancakes wafted through the air. After our wonderful breakfast we walked outside and, surprisingly, it didn’t smell like an elephant lived on the island. We got into our boats and sped towards our destination. It was like we were in the daytona 500. in conclusion Canada was awesome.

The globe reminded me of going on spring break to florida

I woke up in april to the blinding glow of the lights outside my bedroom. It was the day of spring break and we were getting ready to go to florida. I got my bags and brought them downstairs to the truck, it was a long ride. When we got there we were welcomed by the loving warmth of the sun. It was so beautiful there that it was like we were in heaven. When we got to the house it was as if we were kings.

The eagle reminded me of my cottage

As I sat into the hammock I stared in awe as the eagle spread its wings wide and flew gracefully off  the branch. It was as if the eagle was the king. After I sat in the comfortable hammock and slept there I went quading. You know your going fast when you feel the wind blowing through your hair and everything is going by in a blur, it was like I was flying. It is one of the best things in the world. I also went through our trails through our forest.

new addition

I think the new addition was a good idea because we can now do big group things with the whole class and not having to worry about cramming.I also like how the glass doors drown out all of the sound and then we wont be distracted by sound…except for the fact that we can see people walking by. so far i like the new addition. I also like how we have air conditioning. The new addition is one of the best things ZCS has built.

African Union Day

African Union Day is a smart way for us students to interact like delegates of a country. We debated on a resolution that would change the status on the state of Burundi. We debate on these resolutions and would vote on the one we would think would be the best for the situation of Burundi.

One of the most interesting things that I learned during this African Union Day was that Every country has its own culture. It is not just the continents culture. I also learned that the countries religions are even more different .

My favorite thing was the debating part and the part were we went in groups and how we conversed like real delegates in the country.

Invictus Response

Francois pinaar and Mandela changed a lot during the movie. When Nelson was released from prison he needed to bring his coutry to love eachother. Blacks and whites together. So Mandela achose to unite them with rugby. Pinaar did not like the blacks because they did not like rugby and they were black. Nelson talked with pinaar and showed him that you didn’t need to hate eachother and that you needed to love eachother to have a good country. This showed how it was post apartheid because that is when the blacks and whites were both alike so they did stuff together. The blacks were able to have jobs and they were able to roam around freely.

Africa

In this Africa unit I learned that all of the people in africa are not the same. they are not the same skin color. They all have different languages, and they all have different religions. I also learned that a lot of the people in africa do not have clean water and at least half of them do not have internet. I also learned that they are not all black, a lot of people in south africa are white. In addition to all of this I also learned that they can get HIV or aids very fast in Africa, I pray that this will decrease soon.
