October 26-30, 2020

Dear Parents,

As I paused during the ZCS teacher training on Wednesday and reflected on our school year, I am filled with gratitude  to God for his faithfulness and provision to allow us to be face-to-face for these past 8 weeks!  I am also so grateful to God for  your students, who encourage each other, laugh together, and continue learning together.  Thank you for your intentional work on home days to provide your children with a fruitful academic experience and many conversations for spiritual growth, in which you support them in many ways. It was so good to “see” you all during conferences!! Please do not hesitate to reach out to me any time throughout  if you would like to arrange another time to meet. I pray you have a wonderful  time of refreshment and renewal during this long weekend.

Blessings,

Julie

Here is our week ahead:

Our first marking period is wrapping up on October 30.  Teachers will be working on report cards during the first week of November and physical copies of the report cards will be sent home the following week.  We are thrilled to be able to report students’ learning having been face-to-face this marking period.

I will be working individually with students to assess student reading this week and next week. Students are becoming more strategic readers and are taking more ownership for their reading across the grade levels.  Continue to read for pleasure with your children at home.

Star of the week:  Grant is our star of the week this week. Next week, Reagan will be our star!

Book It continues:  Students can earn a free, personal pan pizza from Pizza Hut when they complete the Pizza form.  Students simply color in 1 slice of pizza for every 15 minutes of reading.  When the form is completed, send it to school and I’ll give students their coupon for their pizza!

Upcoming Dates:

October 30: End of First Marking Period

November 6: No School (Grandparents Day is cancelled this year.)

Reminders:

Attendance: Whenever your student is going to be absent or late to school, please notify the school office. To notify the office, you may email attendance@zcs.org or leave a message on the attendance line 616-741-0051. When reporting your absence, please list your student’s name, grade, the reason for absence, and teacher.

Praying for you as you continue to work closely with your children in their education. Have a wonderful week!

Blessings,

Julie
