  1. YHWH means relational God. El means Creator king. Names have meanings. Even old testament names like elijah which means My God is the Lord. My visual relates to this because it’s my name my name means night rain. My name has a meaning it might mean something that  does not make sense to you but it has a meaning and that meaning is important in some way in your life even if you don’t realize it.

2. The Israelites worshiped an idol named Baal while king Ahab was ruling. Elijah showed The people of Israel that God is YHWH. The visual I choose was a rotten apple because the Israelites had been acting rotten towards God and were worshiping an idol. I have felt like people have been rotten to me in the past. People are not always the nicest because they have treated me like i am nothing and I feel like that might have been how God felt with the Israelites. I think that maybe God told elijah to show them that God was the real God because the Israelites were not going to care if they didn’t have a challenge.

3. The Israelites were sent to the promised land and Had to trust that God was going to help them. They had to trust that God was going to give them enough food and enough water. They had to trust that God would protect them while they were wandering in the desert. They had to trust God when they were Crossing the Jordan because it was hard to get across. The visual fits with the theme because the sign says promised land and God sent them to the promised land. I learned that I need to trust God through everything because he will help me.

4. God made a covenant with David saying his line would rule forever. God made this covenant because jesus Came from the line of David. the visual I chose was a candle because on christmas we light 8 candles for Jesus’ birthday. I think that when God made that covenant and said that to David, David might not have believed him. I think that David might have thought that it was going to come much sooner or might have thought it would not happen at all. We don’t know if that’s true or not but I feel like maybe David was doubting God in that time.

5. The sinai law is all the laws that God gave Israel. Israel does not always follow God’s laws though and makes a golden calf and worships it. The visual I chose was phone because it might not seem like it but our electronics are our idols. Maybe you didn’t notice but we use our electronics more then we open our bible and talk to God. We might not actually be worshiping them but we pay more attention to them then we do to God. This was kind of scary to me, because I never thought about putting other things before God until we started talking about it in class. My idols are things like my iPod, my TV, my Video games and my money. I use these things more then I talk to God and open the bible Combined and I am sure that many others do the same.

6.Slavery is what Israel was in before they left Egypt. God was with the Israelites the entire way through all the pain and suffering. God helped them through their struggles of being slaves and he made sure the were safe. The visual I chose was a picture of a person whipping another person. This is what the Israelites had to go through, they were whipped and beaten if they didn’t work hard enough. They worked hard and made sure they met the needs of the pharaoh. I have been through some hard times in my life but I know to look to God through them. So if a loved one dies I know that God had a reason and that God will comfort my family through the sadness.

7. God called on Jesus to help mankind. God sent Jesus to save us from sin and death and brokenness. God Called on Jesus because he loved us. To be called is like to be asked to help. Someone may call on you to help them or a family member. I chose a picture of a person talking for my visual because you call on people through many different things walking up to them and talking to them or emailing them or texting them or  calling them. I have been called on for help in my life just a little while ago my mom asked me to make a gift for my grandma for a Friday night of cleaning because my mom realized my grandma was falling behind on cleaning. I of course said yes because I don’t want to see my grandma struggle to do easy things like go up and down the stairs and put away her laundry and that kind of stuff because that makes me sad. It makes me sad to see people struggling and think about what God went through when his people were struggling.

8. Nagid means a king who helps people follow God. Melek means a military leader. Israel wanted a king. A king that could lead them through battle they wanted a Melek. God wanted a king that would lead them to follow him a king that would show them that they can look to him through battle. I chose a crown as my visual because we are talking about kings. God wanted a good king that would teach his people to follow him and that would not wear a crown with jewels because it would give him authority but one the would wear a crown because they love God and his people. This touches me personally because God wanted a good king because he loves his people and he wanted them to be safe. That’s how he treats us today and he wants our president to Do what God wants him to. he wants the president to point to him.
