Science Roller Coaster Project

Date March 28

In science we made roller coasters in groups. My group was, Chloe, Collin, and Henry.

Materials we used were: Foam pipe insulation, tape, marble, and a funnel.

Extra details: One thing that was a struggle was keeping the marble on the track. My groups roller coaster worked a few times but sometimes it epically failed. 🙂

The Revolutionary War… Why?

I think the main things that caused the Revolutionary War were The Boston Tea Party because that made the king mad. When he had heard he made the Intolerable Acts and he sent a blockade making it so the ships could not leave the Boston harbor without the tax of the tea having been paid but by a certain time the tea would be forcibly unloaded and paid for.

Whose Fault was the Boston Massacre? Why?

I think that the Boston Massacre was the British’s fault. Why? Because the british started taxing the colonists and that’s why they got angry. Then the Boston Massacre broke out. A crowd of 60 upset colonists with clubs and snowballs vs. 12 British soldiers with muskets and bayonets.  There was snow, ice, and clubs being thrown by the colonists. But by the British there was one  type of weapon but it was a much more deadly weapon. They were firing bullets from their muskets into the crowd. By the end of the Boston Massacre which lasted about twenty minutes 5 colonists were dead having been shot by the muskets of the British soldiers.

Social Studies Project

For our social studies project we had to do research about our colony (Maryland) in 1750. It took almost a month to complete our presentation to Mr. Tanis. We made our presentation as a video and a keynote. It was a hard research project because we didn’t know anything about our colony (Maryland) in the first place. The easiest thing was making the keynote because all we did was take stuff from our Google Docs and copied and pasted them on to the keynote.

My favorite part about working with a group is that it is easier than working alone plus you can get a lot more done. I worked with Ethan, Jaylyn, Kaitlynn, and Jack. I liked my group because I think we got a lot of good work done. Doing this project taught me a lot more about our colony(Maryland). The only thing that didn’t work was the fact that I was in Florida on the presentation day.

Letter to King George

Dear King George,

I do not think it is fair that the Writs of Assistance is taking place. Why do your soldiers get to rip up my house in search of smuggled goods without evidence, or a search warrant?

Where is any sign of liberty in ripping up peoples homes trying to find smuggled goods? You should have to have evidence, a search warrant, or at least go through homes more carefully.

Out of all seriousness,

angry colonist Corbin Vandenbrink

P.S. Why do British people get their rights and we don’t? The soldiers need a search warrant to go through British buildings and homes so they need search warrants to go through colonial houses and buildings.
