Holy Spirit Project

Who is the Holy Spirit?

The Holy Spirit had many names and can be many different things. The bible portrays the Spirit as “a divine person with emotions, a mind, and a will” who knows everything like God does. He is the Counselor and the Teacher who will help us in time of trouble and help us with what to say. The Spirit will teach us was we need to know and help us remember Jesus’ words and the scripture passages we’ve memorized. The Holy Ghost can be perceived as the author of scripture being in the writer’s hearts and telling them what to say. The Spirit is a guide who will lead you to where you can be the most helpful and where you can make an impact. Also, the Holy Spirit can translate our prayers to God and translate what we say to the Father. The Spirit is the third person of the Trinity who has many names and labels, but who we know the least about.

Picture Description

My picture for the Holy Spirit Project

In my picture I have a dove with flaming wings and the wind blowing around. The reason I have the dove if because in Luke 3:22 it says the Spirit came down from heaven in the form of a dove. “And the Holy Spiritdescended on him in bodily form like a dove. And a voice came from heaven: ‘You are my Son, whom I love; with you I am well pleased.’” ~Luke 3:22. So, I drew a dove because that was a bodily form of the Holy Spirit. I gave the dove flaming wings because at Pentecost the Holy Spirit came down in tongues of fire and rested on the disciples. Fire is another form of the Spirit came as. Lastly, I drew the wind because when the Holy Spirit came at Pentecost, the whole house was filled with the sound of the blowing of a violent wind. That’s why the wind is there.

Chilean Government

28 11 2012

In 1973, 1974, 1975 about 3,000 people disappeared in Chile. Most of who were students. Augusto Pinochet overthrew Allende with CIA-sponsored coup and became a brutal dictator. I think it’s so scary that these people were just taken and never found again. Not even there bodies or anything. I also think it’s awful that the CIA sponsored this coup.

Are they still trying to find the people? Do they still search for the people they lost?

Dia de los Muertos

31 10 2012

We talked about and celebrated Dia de los Muertos today in Spanish class. It’s the day where the people in Mexico honor their dead ancestors. It’s a remembrance day and a celebration of what these people did in their life on earth. They’ll clean the cemeteries and decorate the head stones. There’s also a lot with skulls and skeletons.

I really think it’s a cool idea, the way they remember the dead and celebrate them. We don’t really do that here, it’s almost as if those who are dead are a subject you aren’t supposed to talk about because it’ll make people said. I think it’s good to celebrate these people and remember them for the good that they did instead of dwelling on the fact that they aren’t here on earth anymore. Though, I don’t like the skeleton part of the celebration, I do like the idea.
