Math

A plane can go, 4.5 times 10 to the power of  4, Kilometers. The farthest a plane can go is 6.8 times 10 to the power of 6, Kilometers. Find the approximate distance this plain can go in scientific notation.
to find the answer to this you would need to do 4.5 times 6.8 and that would give you 30.6. Then you need to add the powers so you would have 10 to the power of 10 times 30.6. You cant have two numbers before the decimal so you need to move the decimal right before the 3, you will get 3.06. Then you need to add one more number to the powers. The answer will be 10 to the power of 11 times 3.06.Screen Shot 2014-10-31 at 10.00.58 AM

What I Have Learned In Math

In math I have learned how to use the scientific notation. I could use this on a normal day if I was wandering haw many average pets lived in Michigan. If I wanted to Know if it was faster to go from the moon to the sun or of it was faster to go from the earth to the sun. I could use this if I wanted to know if the mass of something was bigger or smaller than some thing else.

Theme Writing

Theme Writing

They have no speech, they use no words; no sound is heard

from them.Yet their voice Goes out in to all the earth,

their words to the ends of the world. Psalms 19:3-4

At leadership camp we were split up into four big groups. All four of the groups went to different places around the camp. We had about ten or fifteen minutes to look through the bible and find a verse we really liked and picked a theme to go with it. Then we shared our theme with the whole group and after we chose the one we liked best from our group we meet up with all the other groups to decide what theme we would have for the next year. That’s when Sara and Megan shared their theme, Shout Silently- (actions that speak). That was the theme we chose at the end of 7th grade, as the almost 8th graders. As 8th graders we came up with four ways for ourselves to Shout silently in 8th grade and how we could Shout Silently in the world. I hope that we as an 8th grade can show the world what it means to shout silently.

Some of the ways we can Shout Silently in the 8th grade are help someone in the hall if they dropped there things. We could help someone carry their things if they are having trouble carrying all their things. We can remember the 6th and 7th grader’s names, and talk to them so they feel important. We can be good examples in the hallway and be quiet when we walk past the elementary classrooms.

Some ways we can shout silently in the world are: we can do our chores with out being asked. For example, clean our room, set the table, wash dishes, make dinner etc. I can try to get my sister dressed without having my mom to come help me. We can hold the door open for someone who can’t move around very well. If I am going on vacation I can help get my sister and brother packed.

As an 8th grader I hope we can all show the world how to shout silently, and have others notice that there is something different about us. I am glad we were able to come up with the theme for his year and now can have the privilege of saying we helped with that theme.

Book Review

Mr. Lemoncello’s Library

By Chris Grabenstein

This book is about a boy who goes to a new library lock in, in his town. Then to get out they need to go the way they did not come in.

This book is about a boy who needs to find his way out a the new public library. He can not go out the way he came in our else he would be disqualified from the game. The boy decides to team up with some other kids. Some of the kids get eliminated and some get out. The kids get to do different challenges to get better clues for their team. If they got the challenge wrong they had to leave the library and were disqualified.

I like the part where the mannequins in the library hear a question and come alive and answer it.imgres-2

Mr. Lemoncello’s Library  is a great book for people who like puzzles and mysteries.

The Lord’s Prayer

Your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in Heaven. That is meaning full to me because it says that we want  Gods will to be done and not our will. We want God’s kingdom  to come and for us to be with him but that will happen if it is Gods will. We want Gods will to be something he would do in heaven. That means we are asking God to do good things for us because he would do good things for heaven.

Africa Entry Event

The last two days we have been doing some activities to get a good perspective on Africa. The first day we did a Wordle  and then we looked at pictures and guessed what of the people were african. On the second day we did and activity that showed us about what percentage of people had certain things. After doing those activities I realized that Africans are not always a really dark shade of black. I learned that there are countries in Africa that are developed. I learned from these activities that all of my perspectives were off by a little bit at least. For example I thought that all of the people in Africa would not have phones, computers, or internet but in one of the activities I found out that there are people that do have inter net and cellphones. I would like to learn more about the culture, schools, and the arts.
