My favorite choir song so far is “I Refuse” by Josh Wilson, I like the message of the song. You can really sing it out and get into the lyrics. This is the kind of song I enjoy to sing. That is the song if enjoyed the most singing.

5th Grade Memories

I remember when we went Request Foods and ate I lot of mac and cheese. Also when we did our first math and social studies switches, it was so new to me at first but now I’m used to it. I remember when we went The Image Group and presented our advertising campaigns for our colonies, that was one of my favorite things that we did this year. I remember our Christmas Party when we got to see the new edition when the walls and roof were up and they hadn’t put anything inside yet. I remember my birthday party at BAM we had so much sugar. I will always remember 5th Grade, we had lots of laughs, fun, and good times. But we also learned some important lessons too.

My hopes and dreams for middle school are that I will do good and have fun in 6th grade, that I will be a leader, do well in all my classes, enjoy the new edition, get on all-stars in baseball, do well in travel soccer, and most of all grow in my faith in God.

I Love my Mom

My Mom does so much for me, so I’m going to try to write down a list of all the things she does for me.

  1. She makes my lunch for me every morning
  2. She drives me to everywhere
  3. She always makes everything work for me
  4. She ignores my moods
  5. She keeps me busy, and doesn’t let me get bored
  6. She cares for me when I’m sick
  7. She comforts me when I’m sad
  8. She loves me, even when It’s hard too
  9. She does all these things without getting a “thank you” all the time.

We should appreciate our Moms so much, so go up to your mom and say “thank you mom” for all she does.

Request Foods Field Trip

Last week we visited Request Foods on a field trip. I learned about how they made the food and how careful they had to be while making the food. I liked watching the machines, they were on point every time, if they were spitting out sauce, or putting tape on a box, they never missed. I wouldn’t want to work in the factory, but in the offices. If I were to work there I would dislike always having to put a hair net and a smock every time I went in the plant. Request Foods is a Christian organization. I could tell because they had a family, resource thing in the cafeteria, a screen that plays Bible verses, and Scripture Cookies (which are fortune cookies with Bible verses inside them). I would go back any day, I would want to learn more about how they come up with the recipes. If I ran into someone who works there I would ask if they like working at Request. I had a great time at Request and would like to thank Mr. Dewitt for inviting us there.

Isaiah 41:10

Isaiah 41:10

So do not fear, for I am with you. Do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you, I uphold you with My righteous right hand.

Right now this verse means that God is always with me. Even in tough times he will never leave me. When I sin he will never leave me. If I have a test, or hard project coming up, I will know God will help me do it to the best of my ability. If I’m having trouble with friends or n the playground God will never leave my side, he will see me through it. In the future when I’m older this verse will help me to keep pushing forward. If I’m having a tough time in the work place, or someone is making fun of me because I’m a Christian, God will help me. I will keep this verse in my heart and remember the words forever.

My Spring Break

Posted by lculver22 | Posted in Uncategorized | Posted on April 16, 2015

I had a pretty good spring break. I went to Florida, the drive down there went the fastest compared to all the other years. I didn’t get bored or, or get sick, it was a great drive down. When we got there we immediately went the pool, it had a slide and a lazy river, hanging out by the pool is what we did most on spring break. We swam and payed in the arcade, and got drinks from the drink bar. We were supposed to go to Universal Studios on tuesday, I was so excited. It would be my very first time there. But then during the night on monday, my sister puked and got sick, then in the morning my mom told me we weren’t going that day. Then my mom got sick the same day. It was just me and my dad left. On wednesday we were going to Downtown Disney for our friends dad’s birthday. We were going to shop and get dinner at the Rainforest Cafe. Then my mom and sister got better and we all went and had a good time. Plus we were going to Universal tomorrow to make up for not going tuesday. But then when we were getting ready in the morning I started to not feel very good. But I didn’t tell my Mom and Dad. Then I puked, but I felt a ton better, so we were still going to go. We were just leaving the resort and I started to feel queasy  again. So we didn’t go, But it was a good thing. I puked 19 more times and lost 12 pounds. My stomach was so sore I couldn’t puke anymore, you could see my ribcage. The next day I recovered some more and went to the pool later that. But it was already friday! It was supposed to be our last day but we stayed an extra day to go to… Universal! When we got to Universal I was so excited. I thought to myself,  finally. We rode all the big roller coasters and had tons of fun. But my back hurt so much, I felt like a grandpa with back pain. But otherwise we had a great time at Universal. I got some souvenirs like a Harry Potter wand and a snow globe for my collection, (I have been collecting them since I was 4 or 5) I have a ton of snow globes. I was kind of mad I didn’t get to spend more time not sick. But I guess being sick added some character to the trip. Overall I had a great time, and I can’t wait till next year!

The Boston Massacre

Posted by lculver22 | Posted in Uncategorized | Posted on March 19, 2015

I think The Boston Massacre was all the Colonists fault, even though they shot and killed 5 colonists they had their reasons to do it. I’m going to to you why I think it was the Colonists fault. Some reasons are the Colonists had already been getting in fights with the British soldiers that the Colonists started, they were throwing ice at the soldiers and that could be very painful and they were the ones who started the whole fight, maybe if the thought a little bit people wouldn’t have gotten shot.

One reason is the Colonists had already been getting in fights with the British soldiers that the Colonists started. They were constantly bullying the British soldier. Blaming them for their taxes, and other financial problems. The soldiers were just doing their jobs to support their family, and keep them alive with a home and food. That’s one reason why I think The Boston Massacre was the Colonists fault.

Another reason is they were throwing ice and snowballs, and that could be very painful it could cause a concussion, or even death. It’s not just a “fluffy little snowball” I could cause various medical issues. If an icicle fell of your roof and fell on you it could kill you, those snowballs aren’t so “fluffy” anymore. Plus if they didn’t keep the Colonists back with their bayonets they could of gotten hurt, and the money would be stolen. That’s another reason why I think The Boston Massacre was the Colonists fault.

My last reason is the Colonists wouldn’t have gotten shot if they didn’t start the whole fight. 5 people would still be alive, and it wouldn’t have been a “massacre” and if the soldiers just stood their they would have gotten taken down, it’s not okay to just do something like the Colonists did. That’s another reason why I think The Boston Massacre was the Colonists fault.

Those are some reasons why I think it was the Colonists fault. It wouldn’t have been a “Massacre if the didn’t start it. Good job Colonists on getting yourself killed.

It’s March, and that means it reading month! Reading is important to me for many reasons but one of them is it’s a break from life, you don’t have to worry when your reading, you just settle in and you fly away to a different place, like maybe space, or maybe ancient Egypt. Another reason is it’s just plain fun, to hear about mysteries, or adventures. It’s like a movie, and you get to play all the parts. My favorite book series is the Middle School books by James Paterson. It’s about a kid named Rafe, and how he survives middle school (or add least attempts too). March is a pretty cool month not just basketball, but for reading too!

Social Studies Project Thoughts…

Tomorrow we are going to The Image Group to present our advertising campaign for the Virginia Colony. I am worried that my group will not do well tomorrow. We did well practicing with teachers, but by ourselves we can’t ever seem to stick it. But beside my worries I feel very confident in my group. I think we will do amazing tomorrow, we’re more prepared then ever before. And besides, Mr. Tanis is a really nice guy. Even if we do well, or terrible, I’m proud of my group and the work we have done. Wish us good luck on our presentation!

On Tuesday, Jan. 6 we visited the Image Group (they are an advertising company) in Holland on Eighth Street. We did this so we could learn more about the advertising process for a social studies project. For our project we have to make an ad to try and get people to come to one of the thirteen colonies. I learned a ton about the advertising project, and what it takes to make a good ad. Going there will help with our ad campaign because they are experienced and they gave us a lot of good ideas, and they teached us about the steps to make an ad. The steps to making an ad are, doing research, or figuring out what to say. Next you figure out how to say it, and they told us while your making your ad you have collaborate with your partners. Next you figure out how to make your ad unique. Then you have to make the ad and get it out their. I’m excited to do a ad campaign for our colony because it will be fun to get creative and really get to know what it’s like to be an advertising company. If I had the choice to work at the Image Group I would because you get to be creative, and at the Image Group you get to be really close to your co-workers and you get to have a lot of fun, and they also have a table made out of an old bowling alley! How cool is that!

My favorite part of the Christmas story was the part about the Magi. What happened was three Magi saw an unusually bright. After doing some research they interpreted that it meant the birth of an important child. So they decided to follow it. They stopped in Jerusalem because it was a royal city and they asked King Herod were this  child was. King Herod told them to go find this child so he could worship him. But he really wanted kill him. So the Magi found Jesus and they worshiped him and gave him gifts. Then in a dream God told the Magi not to go King Herod. Once King Herod found out the Magi outwitted him, he ordered all babies two and under to be killed. So in a dream God told Joseph to go to Egypt until Herod died. Finally Herod died and they went back home. But Herod’s son was king now so they went to Nazareth instead.

I like this story because it really shows that you can’t mess with God’s plan. No matter how hard you try.

Two new things I learned were that after they came back home to Bethlehem they decided to go live in Nazareth. And that angels appeared to Joseph three times in dreams.

Dear Kole,

I went to Beasley Soccer camp last summer. You would like it their. We learned more about soccer, played games and met Demarcus Beasley, I also won one of his world cup cleats. They have really good coaches their. It was so fun, on the last day we had huge water ballon fight, they even got a firetruck to come. And tons of our other friends went to. You should maybe do it next year, you would have tons of fun. PS, it’s very tiring.

Your friend,

Landon

“Shouting Silently”

0

Posted by lculver22 | Posted in Bible | Posted on November 13, 2014

I have seen people “shouting silently” every day, one of those people is my mom. She drives me everywhere, she cooks for me and my sister and she takes the time to talk to us and ask us how our day was. She does all these things without receiving recognition, or a simple “thank you”. Even though she might not get a “thank you” all the time I still am so thankful for her. Another person that “shouts silently” is my teacher. She has to deal with so many kids and that can get frustrating some times, I’m thankful that she can be my teacher.

Psalm 103:8-12

Psalm 103:8-12

The Lord is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in love. He will not always accuse, nor will he harbor his anger forever. He does not treat us as our sins deserve, or repay us according to our iniquities. As high as the heavens are above the earth so great is his love for those who fear him. As far as the east is from the west so far he has removed our transgressions from us.

These verses apply to me personally because God is compassionate, gracious, slow to anger, forgiving and loving beyond compare to me he also wants to have a relationship with me and all of his people. He forgives me when I make mistakes, no madder how big or how small the mistake is.  It amazes me how God does all these things for me. I am so grateful to have an awesome God. I am also so excited to get to know and have a relationship with God.

I learned that if any planet has an axis then it has seasons. What amazes me most is how big and how complex God made our planet and the whole entire universe. God was not mentioned in the presentation. I think that is because I don’t think that school was a Christian school. If I was giving the presentation I would say some of the stuff that the man presenting to us said, but I would also mention God in my presentation and say that he made the universe and he made everything in this universe possible.
