Position of moon at “Full Moon” and “New Moon”

0

Posted by lculver22 | Posted in Uncategorized | Posted on October 2, 2014

images   It is a full moon when the earth is directly in front of the moon. It’s like that because the suns rays reflect off the moon, and when the earth is in front off the moon we can see all full side of the moon. That’s when and why we can see a full moon sometimes.

Full_moon_and_lighting_orbit_1 It is a new moon when the moon is directly in front of the earth. It’s like that because the suns rays reflect off the moon back at the sun, so when it’s night time we can’t see any of the moon. That’s when and why there is a new moon.

Bible So Far…

(Sorry this was posted so late, never got around to finishing it.)

Genesis 3:15 says that God would send a Savior, and he would crush satan and save us from sin. God did that because he couldn’t have His image bearers always live in sin, we needed a Savior. He sent one.

To Abraham God said that he would be fruitful and increase in number, and his line would fill the earth. And that never again would he use a flood to destroy the earth. God said whenever you see a rainbow let it be a reminder of my covenant with you. The rainbow is kind of like a sideways bow and the lightning is like the arrows of God’s wrath, and a rainbow always appears after rain.

The promise God made with Noah was he would never destroy the earth with a flood again.

friday we went to the Civil War Muster at Van Raalte Farm. We got to see what people used in there everyday lives. There was some stuff that moms used, kids, and dads used. Then at the next station we got to here stories and see some of the the stuff that they used in the Civil War. We got to here this really cool story about Mr. Van Raalte’s sons, they were soldiers in the Civil War. And at the last station we got to see and hear some of the command they used in the Civil War. And we also got a musket demonstration, it was very cool. after they were done we got to talk to the reanactors, and ask them questions. Overall it was a great field trip.

Random Thoughts…

Posted by lculver22 | Posted in Uncategorized | Posted on September 11, 2014

The school year has gone pretty well so far. I have a good teacher, a good class, and the work has been fairly easy. We just had gym and played two ball soccer, we had a fire drill right in the middle of our game. It wasted half of our time we ended up losing 10-8. I watched Keigan’s and Kole’s intramural soccer game Keigan’s team won in a shootout. I have drum lessons and soccer practice tonight, man I’m busy. I can’t wait until next year when we get to bring our laptops home! The rock dedication ceremony was really cool, especially when we got to put our rocks in the hole, our school is built on our faith in God. I can’t wait until my birthday! I’m going to have a party at BAM. These are some of my random thoughts.

Shout Silently

Posted by lculver22 | Posted in Uncategorized | Posted on September 10, 2014

Our theme comes from Psalm 19:3-4, it says,

There is no speech, nor are there words,
whose voice is not heard.
Their voice goes out through all the earth,
and their words to the end of the world.
In them he has set a tent for the sun.

That means we have to “Shout Silently” we should have actions that speak, and show that we’re christians. We don’t have to tell people that we’re christians, our actions should speak and show that we’re christians.

The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe – Literary Essay

Is it hard for you to find a good book? Do you want a book that mirrors the Bible and teaches you good lessons? Well I have a book for you! The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe fills all of those categories. Today I’m going to focus on the lesson of forgiveness in the book. Here are my reasons, God (or Aslan) forgave us (or Edmund) so we should forgive others. Another reason is forgiveness is a good thing to learn. Last but not least we all make mistakes. I hope after you read this essay you’ll want to read The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.

My first reason is God (or Aslan) forgave us (or Edmund) so we should forgive others. For example in the story Aslan forgave Edmund even though he betrayed him. Another example is God sent his one and only son to die on the cross to save us from our sins. My last example is Jesus forgave us so many times it’s hard to count. Yet any time we sin we can ask for forgiveness and He forgives us.

Another reason is forgiveness is a good thing to learn. In the story the kids learned forgiveness when they had to forgive Edmund. Another example is everyone needs to learn forgiveness because humans make a ton of mistakes. My last example is God is the best at forgiveness. If you ask Him to help you learn forgiveness, he will help you.

My last reason is we all make mistakes. For example Edmund made a mistake when he betrayed his family. Another example is Peter and Susan made a mistake when they believed Edmund instead of Lucy. My last example is when Aslan gave Edmund a talk, Edmund was changed, Aslan forgave Edmund, and Edmund let the past go. From then on he kept his eyes on Aslan.

There’s so many reasons why you should read this book, it teaches you God (or Aslan) forgave us (or Edmund) so we should forgive others, forgiveness is a good thing to learn, and we all make mistakes. If this essay didn’t convince you, read the book yourself, that will convince you.

Wisdom VS. Intelligence

1

Posted by lculver22 | Posted in Bible, Spiritual Journal | Posted on May 22, 2014

Wisdom is not just being intelligent, it’s more than that, wisdom is having a discerning heart, having humility, knowing right from wrong. You can knowing right from wrong, but you also have to put it into action. Being intelligent is not wisdom, intelligence is your smart, you know facts, not necessarily problem solving, and you may be smart but you might not do the right thing, with intelligence comes with the ability to out smart a lot of people and you might not use your brain to do good things. With wisdom it comes with a peace in your heart and you always know right from wrong you know how to do things and when to do it.

Solomon’s wisdom was one of the most awesome gift’s anybody could ever ask for, parents ask for wisdom every day and that Solomon got that gift from God is so cool, but even if you do have wisdom and you become popular like Solomon did don’t get caught up in all the fame, Solomon ended drifting away from God, if you ever have the wisdom like he did use it wisely to honor God.

I can apply this to my life by using Solomon’s wisdom in a good way and that even though I don’t have it I can still ask for  it every day, and I can be as wise as I can every day.

Market Day Reflection

1

Posted by lculver22 | Posted in Market Day | Posted on May 21, 2014

  • Write about ONE thing you learned from COLLABORATION at Market Day.

I learned that working together is very important, if it’s working together building your product, or filming a commercial, whatever you do you need to work together. When you work together you also have to listen to everyone’s ideas, maybe your stuck on one idea, but someone else has an even better idea.

  • Write about ONE thing you learned from CRITICAL THINKING at Market Day.

I learned that you need to use your money/resources wisely, you also need to find a price to make your business worth more money, and that you have to be careful while checking you math, and you should check it a couple times.

  • Write about ONE thing you learned from CREATIVITY at Market Day.

I learned that making your product unique and new, really helps your business to go up, and that thinking outside of the box will help you to, and that you should look into the past and see what other people have already made, we were  going to do regular marshmallow shooters on market day, but in the past lots of people already did regular marshmallow shooters so everybody already had them, and that you should do some thorough thinking to make you product the best it can be.

  • Write about ONE thing you learned from COMMUNICATION at Market Day.

I learned that communication is crucial, if it’s for your commercial, or maybe your product design, in everything you do always communicate, if it’s how long you should cut a piece of PVC pipe, or just if you should put something on your poster, I learned that being confident in your product in front of your group, or anytime just be confident.

  • What was the BEST thing about Market Day?

The best thing about Market Day was selling out and being able to get all the money we needed, and just seeing the smiling faces on the kids when the bought our product, and just being able to be involved in such a fun project.

  • What is ONE thing you’d change if you had to do it again?

Nothing. Market Day couldn’t have gone any better I had great creative group members, we sold out, I wouldn’t change a thing.

  • What is the MOST IMPORTANT thing you learned from Market Day? How will this impact your future learning?

The most important thing I learned from Market Day was to have a servant heart, to always be confident in whatever you do, and that you should always do everything, whatever you do, even when I grow up, to always do everything to the best of my ability, and if work hard, and ask God for help you’ll do great in whatever you do. This will impact my future learning, knowing that I should do everything to the best of my ability, to do all my schoolwork even if it’s very hard to the best I can do.
