Blog Day

We were told for this blog day we had to make up a word problem and solve it…so here it is!

The second angle is a right angle 2 times as large as the first. The 3rd angle is the same size as the first. Find the angle measures and draw a possible figure.

For this problum you know the 2nd angle is 90 degrees, a.k.a a right angle. the second angle is twice as large as the first, so that would be the same as the 1st angle is half as large as the 2nd, half of 90 is 45. The 3rd angle is the same as the 1st, 45. So we now have 90 for the 1st angle, 45 for the 2nd and 3rd. Screen Shot 2014-11-03 at 8.54.41 AMHere is my drawing of what this triangle should look like

I have learned…

In math this year so far I learned how to figure out what kind of number a number is. Every number is considered a number, then there is a real number or not real number. A not real number is a number that does not exist like 4/0 or the square root of -16. A real number is either Rational or irrational, irrational numbers are numbers that never repeat or end. A rational number is one that does repeat or end. like 0. 26 or 5 or -294. A type of rational number is Integer, that is any number that is not a decimal, positive or negative. Then there is a type of integer that is called whole, that is a number no decimal and only positive. Thats everything to do.

Theme Writitng

Theme Writing

“ They have no speech, they use no words, no sound is heard from them. Yet their voice goes out into all of the earth, their words to the end of the world.

Psalm 19:3-4

Last May as a 7th grade class almost 8th grade we went to camp Roger to go to Leadership camp. At Leadership camp we learned how to be leaders, along with that we chose a theme for the 2014-2015 school year. We came up with the theme Shout Silently- Actions that speak. I can use the theme we chose at school or with I am at home.

I can use the theme at school by helping someone who is lost or confused by our crazy schedule. I can be nice and talk to kids who look lonely or who are in a different grade. I could also help people with their homework if they need help.

I could also use our school theme at my house or outside school. I can help out at church with VBS or Children and Worship. I can also do things around the house to help out without being asked like picking up my room. I could also try to be nicer to my brothers.

I can Shout Silently when I am at home or at school it doesn’t matter where! There is lots that I can do as an 8th grader to live out our theme. It’s good to Shout Silently wherever you are.

Book Review

The Tale Of Emily Windsnap by  Liz Kessler

This is a great book about a girl and her mom. She discovers the amazing world underwater.

This book is about a girl who really doesn’t fit in at her school and she has no friends. She wanted to learn how to swim but her mom hates the water and doesn’t want to swim. She lives on a house boat called The King, with her mom. She doesn’t know her dad. She later discovers she is half mermaid. She asked her mom about her dad but she didn’t answer.

The author keeps you interested the whole time and it connects with a show at sea world about the amazing world of the sea.

If you like fantasy or realistic fiction or swimming you will most likely love this book.

The Lords Prayer

In class we are talking about prayer we were asked to pick a phrase of the Lord’s Prayer and say why…

the power, and the glory,

I chose this one because I think it is important to remember that God is powerful and we need to treat him like that not just whatever. He also has a lot of glory and we sometimes forget that so this is a good reminder.

Africa entry event

On Thursday we did an activity when we wrote down things about Africa that we knew, poor and animals came up a lot. My reflection is that we have lots of stereotypes about Africa and most of them are incorrect but some of them are correct for certain parts but others are totally opposite. We also did a faces of Africa thing and that was different than what I thought all people in Africa looked like.
