Names

screen-shot-2016-12-15-at-10-42-00-am

YWHWH means God in his creation. For my visual I chose a picture of flowers with the word GOD in the middle. I chose this visual because God created the earth and everything in it, and that God is everywhere. I also chose this because God is in his creation. Even though he might not always be obvious he is still there no matter what. In the bible your name was who you are names are very important some examples of names and meanings are…..

YWHWH: God in his creation

Isaac: he laughs

Moses: drawn from the river

Elijah: God is YWHWH

Lauren: from the place of the loral leafs

Elizabeth: God is satisfied

Spahr: a German surname of: Friedrich Wilhelm Spahr (1900 – 1945), German artisan for Silver overlay on                                        porcelain and glass. Charles “Charlie” E.

I think that names are very important. I am glad that names don’t have the same meaning they did 2000 years ago. I think some names would be very hard to live up to.

Conflict/Doubt

I for my visual I chose a pair of shoes. I chose a pair of shoes because Mother Teresa gave away all the good shoes and kept the worst shoes for herself. Mother Teresa was a very good christian, she always continued to tell people about God, even when she was struggling with doubt herself .  One thing I remember from this theme was that if you ask for help you are looking for answers. I also remember that Philip Yancey said it is a good idea to have a doubt buddy. He said that you should have a close friend of family member to be able to ask questions to. In this theme I learned that it is ok to doubt. I learned that going to God when you are doubting in him is a good idea because you still want to believe in him.

Covenant

I chose a picture of the 10 commandments for my visual because it reminded me of the 10 commandments on Mount. Sinai. (the 10 commandments are unconditional) There are 2 different types of Biblical covenants conditional and unconditional. A conditional promise is an If–> then and it benefits both sides of the agreement. An unconditional promise is an I will no matter what and it only benefits one side of the agreement. An example of an unconditional promise in the bible is Gods covenant through Jesus. An example of a conditional promise from the bible is between Paul and someone else (I don’t know) were talking Paul said “If it is God’s will then I will come back” This theme means to me that it is a good thing that God’s promise through Jesus was an unconditional promise because someone would have messed it all up. This also means to me that God won’t love more or less no matter what I do.

Call

images

For my visual I chose an old phone. I chose this old phone for my visual because it reminded of how people call each other on their phones, and how God called us. God called us to be his people. Whenever God calls us we should respond right away. God sometimes calls us to do work in other countries. One example from real life is Zoe’s mom. Zoe’s mom carries a jug around for african water. God called Zoe’s mom to raise money for Africa. One example from bible times of someone being called is Aberham. God called Aberham to get up and move. Aberham had so much faith in God that he did just what God told him to do. This means to me that no matter what God calls me to do I can have faith that he will help me through it.

Slavery/Salvation

I chose a picture of presents for my visual because God is always present. This visual reminds me that God is always present even in the struggles. There are millions of stories of God being present in the bible but one example is when Moses went up Mount Sinai. When Moses went up Mount Sinai the people of Israel knew God was up there and they could feel his presence. They knew God was so strong that if he even talked to them they could die. One example I have from feeling God’s presence was at summer camp with some of my friends I could feel God’s presents when we were worshiping. This means to me that God is always there for me even if I can’t see him working.

Sinai Law

for my visual I chose a picture of a golden calf in a pile of money with the word greed in the middle of it. I chose this because everyone has different golden calf some people struggle with greed and some other people struggle with money. Yet other people Struggle with gossip or stealing. One thing that the isrealites struggled with was idols. The Isrealites had a huge problem with only fallowing 1 God. One time when the Isrealites fallowed an idol was when they worshiped the golden calf at the bottom of Mount Sinai.  I think personally I struggle with jealousy. I think that I struggle with jealousy because I always seem to want what others have. I always think that I don’t have enough and I always need more.

Sent to the Promise Land

For my visual I chose a picture of a river with the word Jordan in the middle of it because the isrealites had to cross the Jordan river. It was a big deal for the Isrealites to walk across the Jordan river because they saw the water as kayos. They thought it was kayos because they couldn’t control it and they never knew when there was going to be a big storm that could cause lots of damage. Everyone has rivers they need to cross one river I needed to cross was when Pop-pop died. I thought it was really hard. I really liked how we walked across the river at the bottom of the hill.

Salute to a King

imgres-1

For my visual I chose a picture of King from candy crush. I chose this because God wanted a…

Nagid King: a king who helps the people fallow God

Melek King: A military leader

The people of Israel wanted to be like the surrounding nations. The Isrealites decided to beg Samuel for a king. So Samuel went to God and God said to go appoint Saul as the king. Saul eventually sinned by not waiting for Samuel on the mountain. Then David became king. David was a nagid King. David did what God wanted (most of the time). Most melek kings want money, control, and leadership. A lot of people who have instagram always worry about how many followers they have, Jesus only had 12 followers. I learned that it doesn’t really matter how many followers you have you most likely have more than Jesus did.
