My thoughts about the theme of the book is that it is totally right. All people face trials of many kind. Some harder than others but we all face them. I think its good good theme but its kinda hard to find in the movie. The book does a great job of making out the theme by all the little hints it gives but the movie doesn’t. I feel like the theme doesn’t really apply to use at Zeeland Christian in Zeeland MI. I think its a good life lesson. It doesn’t happen in many ways around here and by far not that physically speaking. It happens in the way of people who are popular don’t want people who are not to get any attention. I have heard that from one of my friends that she just plane out said “wow she’s really popular for today but she wont be for long.”This is the kind of stuff the author was trying to warn us about by writing this book. The little things are no more sins than the big things.

I think the way they are similar is that they both have the church seen as a very important one. I think that they all so show the seen of bob getting killed it nasty but important. I think they are similar in the way the characters really acted like the book. They said the same things at the right time and they kinda look like we all thought they would. It was similar in the way that Cherry would not talk to any of them with out her boyfriend being drunk and she had no other choice but to go with them.  I think the book and the movie are similar in the way that all the boys are like family. They respect each other most of the time and they are always hanging out together.

They are so different. The book and the movie have more differences than similarities. First of the boys in the book where mad to be way cuter than they where in the movie. In the movie the boy went into the front of church. In the book it said they didn’t. In the movie they leave out the part when they jump of the train on the way to Jay mount. They leave out the part of Darry swearing up a storm when the Johnny and Pony go into the church. They leave out when Johnny goes into the hospital and his mom stops by they miss her screaming at the nurse. They didn’t show when dally comes to the hospital they don’t show him saying any thing to pony boy. In the end of the movie they don’t show when soda goes running out of the house and they all make up because they promise to stop fighting. They didn’t have pony boy in school. They never said that in the book pony was on a slide before he got attached. They didn’t tell us in the book that Johnny wrote in the book it said he wrote a note. There where so many little things in the movie. They completely missed some parts of the book in the movie. Then they didn’t show the court seen. They didn’t show when pony boy falls down and gets a concussion and they didn’t show when the guy from pony’s school stops by to talk.  I think they should make a new movie with new actors that follows the book more.

I think that they shouldn’t have left the book as a book. I think that they should have not made a movie or at least made a better one. I think the actor where fine. I think that maybe they should have taken more time to plain it out and made the movie a little longer. Other than that i think its fine.

Finally, I think that it was a good movie all around and a good book. I am glad we read it and watched the movie. I think that in all the movie and book had a good meaning. I think that it had a deeper meaning than any of use could get. I think that it was a good read. I think that there was more action in the book than the movie. I would say that this was a fun book but also made you think about what they said. This is a book where drama is considered extremely dumb and that hurting people is not bad. I think we saw in the end how no people are different then others because of how much money they had. We have some people in our grade that are NOT middle class. The thing is they don’t want people to know. They don’t consider them selves different. Maybe they do inside but they don’t show it.

Theme Writing

They have no speech they use no words; no sound is heard from them.

Yet there voice goes out into all the earth, their words to the end of the world.

Psalms 19:3-4

Last May we went to Camp Roger where we picked the theme for this school year. We made the theme by splitting up into four initial groups.  We first individually created different themes in those groups, then we came up with one theme that our group would present to the whole grade. Each group came back to the lodge where we all got together and we all put the ideas we had on a board. Each team explained their idea.  We then voted our four themes down to two.   Then we took time to think and pray before voting on the final theme. We chose Psalm 19:3-4, with the theme,  “Shout Silently… Actions That Speak”.  I can use my actions at school and when I am out in the world to shout silently for the Lord.

What does it mean to be a 8th grader at Zeeland Christian School? Being a 8th grader at Zeeland Christian means that I have more responsibility than I had in the lower grades. Our class needs to demonstrate how to be kind and be respectful to others. We need to be examples to the younger grades with how to act in school as we interact with them. When we walk down the hall we need to say, “hi”, even if you don’t know that person’s name. If you do know their name, we need to call them by their name. We need to love and respect others that are not in our “friend group”. We need to set a good example for the kids that will be in 8th grade at Zeeland Christian next year.

Being a Christian means that we need to “Shout Silently” every where we are.  There are many ways that I can “Shout Silently” in my life.  I can shout silently by sending more notes and emails to kids in the Philippines. I can clean our house with out complaining. I can hang out with people that some times I wouldn’t want to be seen around. I can respect people not only when we are in public but also at home and in my thoughts. I need to show God through every thing I do. The things that I listed are just little things I can do. I can do so much more to show God to the world.

I can use my actions at school and when I am out in the world to “Shout Silently” for the Lord. These are some of the ways I can “Shout Silently” this year. I need to show others God love through me. This is my challenge for myself this year.

“on earth as it is in heaven.” This is part of Matthew 6;10, more commonly known as the lords prayer. I love this part because its helps you think of what you have done to praise God today and what your are doing every day to praise him. The verses leading up to it say ” your kingdom come, your will be done” and i think that is really important because we need to do his will. It say on each as it is in heaven so, we know it is happening in heaven.  So we need to do it on earth to. We need to give all the glory to him and praise his name. We need to try to do stuff on earth that we would do in heave like glorifying Him. We are His disciples we need to do his will.

I new about Africa but not a lot. I though all of it was poor but that was not true for all the parts. We had to write for 8 min. on anything that came to our mind. Then we put all the surveys into a wordle. Some of the main words that come up where poor, water, and Elephants. THese are all things that are true in some parts but not in the other. Then we did something to show that there are different people that live in Africa. I was called the faces of Africa. We looked at pictures of people in Africa and it showed how people in Africa look different in different parts of the country. On Friday we did some things with percents. We got cards and we would stand up if we had a card that they called and that was the percent of people who had that thing in the country we where talking about. I learned that not all  places and people in Africa are the same. I grew in knowing how i could help. We had a presentation on Africa in our church the other night and it showed the rich and the poor and i showed how they lived not very far from each other. I have felt the same kind of thing when i was in the Philippines and its not right i mean every one should be treated the same but some people don’t think that and that is just there culture. We have to respect all there different types of beauty and singing and dancing. They have very different ways then us and we have to treat them the same as we would a family member and i think that we have a hard timing doing that because that are so different than us. In some ways they are and in some ways they aren’t. I learned the most when we did the faces thing because i learned all about what people looked like and what they thought was beautiful or ugly. I want to know more about what the stereo types that have of the USA and if there was any way we could change that. I want to learn how we could change those and why we label them as things that they are not. I want to change that and i also want to change all the stereo types people  change in the world. This is really hard for us change because americans are stuck up in there ways. This changed me because 50% of people are christians and some people in Africa are white and they all are not all black. There are more than 400 lounges in one of the countries. This would make it hard to grow as a country and that would be really hard to make a strong army and make a strong country who all know what people are thinking and talking about. We need to resect all lauges and not push English but let them speak there luggage.

Who am I?

I am a member of Christ citizenship. I am struggling with my moms cancer. Gad made us all special and we all have different talents that we need to show and I might have the same talent as some one else but i have many more that are different than them.

Who are we?

I have had a lot come into my life sense camp. One of those thinks is my mom got cancer. This is a really hard thing for me to go through but the community (the WE) has supported us The list goes on and on. My 7th grade classmates, all the teachers, my church, and many more. I also have a very big trip coming up and every one has supported me and loved me through it all.

Who is He?

To me God is a provider a healer of all. He has taken the cancer out of my mom and she does not have to have kemo. He has protected me from harm and I hope and know he will do the same on my big trip.

In the density lab we saw how different objets can have different density even if they are the same size. this happens because something has more or less stuff in it. So if we had two brick and on had air in it and one did not the brick with no air would be denser. Objects that are less dense than water tend to float and the things that are more dense sink. Some thing with more stuff in it, is more dense than some thing that does not have a lot of stuff in it.

The picture book was fine. I really liked to write the book but i did not like the pictures. I am not a good artist and I think that that made my picture book less interesting. I would change the ending because it ends on a good note but I want it to keep going for like two more pages. The hardest thing for me was the rough draft I would change my ideas so many times the page was black and full of eraser dust. I think that i would have do a before rough draft and a after rough draft. I would have had someone else do my pictures for  me. I think that the kids like the book but the pictures did not help them connect to the book. Some of the research that we did was on little kids to see what they liked. I think this helped us ALOT and that we could learn how they like to see books. On another note I do some babysitting witch helped a lot for me to learn and read A LOT of picture books along the the way. I learned a lot about the books with the kids that helped me learn. They helped me dig deep into the book.

I have heard Tim’s story many times. I new all the stuff he told me but 1 thing. The doctors thought he would only last 1 day to a year. Tim has brittle bone disease. He is always cheerful he never is down even though he has broken over 400 bones in his body. They though he would live a year but he is 18 and still going strong. I think it changed me in the way that he is positive even with his condition and if we don’t make the team we are down he never even got to try. Time was a inspiration to all he talked he talked to. He loved the world and even when he was at ZCS. He wanted to do all the things that normal kids do.
