Slave Story

My slave story

By:Natalie Nyhof

I lived at a old house with not many rooms.  I had to do a lot of work one of the things was planting and picking vegetables.  One of the hardest things about my life was not having much food.

I decided to leave because I didn’t want to spend the rest of my life as a slave.

I traveled slow because if I went fast I was afraid that someone would find me.  I found my way by the north star at night and following the Moses on the trees at day.  I survived by using peoples houses.  I felt scared escaping.

I came across white families and dark families.  Some of the people gave me food and others just gave me a place to stay over the night.

When I reached freedom I settled in canada at a house with black people.

I chose that place to stay because I knew it would be safe there.

I felt so happy I was rejoicing with all the people around me.

I knew my grandfather did but I’m not sure about any others.

WATER FROM THE ROCK

WATER FROM THE ROCK

BY:NATALIE NYHOF

Hi I am an israelite girl.  Yesterday I was in the Desert.  Moses was leading us.  It was horrible.  We were so thirsty.  Some of us thought we were going to die.  Then Moses went to talk to God.  God told Moses exactly what to do.  Moses hit a rock and water came rushing out.  It was the best water ever.

TARYNS LESSON

Taryn’s Lesson

CHAPTER 1

Taryn yelled, “Mom, we’re going to be late for school.”

Taryn was waiting by the door for her mom to leave for school.

Taryn was getting so mad. Finally her mom came. they jumped in the car and they left for school. On the way there, Taryn’s mom sighed “you better be good today.”

“I know”whined Taryn. Then Taryn ran into the school thinking of a way how to trick this little girl Faith.

While they were in school Taryn thought of the perfect way how to trick Faith. Her idea was to lock Faith out of the school at recess. When it was recess time Taryn and her friend Ally were on the swings.

Then when the bell rang. Taryn whispered to Faith,                             “the bell didn’t ring yet.” So Faith just stayed outside on the swings until she looked at her watch and saw it was 1:30pm, she knew recess ended at 12:50pm. So she ran to the door and tried to open them. They were locked, so she ran to another then another they were all locked. So then she got scared. Finally at 2:00pm her teacher found her. She brought her inside and asked,

“does anyone know how Faith got locked out of the school?”Taryn had a little smile on her face.

CHAPTER 2

When the day was done Taryn thought about how much fun it would be if she could trick Faith tomorrow. Well the next day Taryn thought of another way how to trick Faith. She came up with the idea to push Faith off the climbing wall at recess. So that day at recess Taryn told Faith to come on the climbing wall. So she did. Then at the top of the climbing wall Taryn shoved Faith off the top of the climbing wall and ran away. Faith sat on the bark with tears in her eyes.

A teacher came up to her and asked “What happened?”

Faith whispered “Someone pushed me off the top of the climbing wall, but I don’t know who did it.” “Well” responded the teacher “I think we should bring you inside. Then when Faith got up she couldn’t walk. The teacher quickly brought her to a doctor and the doctor replied,”She has a broken leg.”

So then Faith had to get a cast and a wheelchair. When she came back to school Taryn was shocked. Taryn did not try to break Faith’s leg. But she thought its better than her not getting hurt at all.

CHAPTER 3

The next day when they got back to school the teacher was talking about how everyone has to help Faith in her wheelchair. Taryn whispered to herself. Everyone else can help but I am not. Taryn decided to go see how Faith was doing. So she walked over there and asked “Faith how are you doing?” Faith answered “Okay”.

Then Taryn yelled “Faith’s a big baby”.Everyone and the teacher stared at Taryn. Taryn’s face turned bright RED.

Taryn forgot that her teacher was in the classroom.

Taryn had to sit out in the hallway.

Taryn had tears coming down her face. She was not happy at all.

CHAPTER 4

The next day Taryn came up to Faith again, Faith was worried she didn’t know what Taryn would do next, so she came up to Taryn and said, “you’re a baby and you’re not nice.”  Taryn’s face turned RED and she remembered that that is what she’s been doing to Faith.  She walked away with tears rolling down her face.  She felt horrible.

CHAPTER 5

While Taryn was walking back to her seat her teacher saw her crying, her teacher asked, “what happened?”  Taryn sighed, “Faith was saying mean things about me and I realized that’s what I’ve been doing to her and now I feel bad.  I feel like a big bully.  I sort of want to be her friend but sort of don’t.”

But as Taryn was thinking about it all night she wondered where Faith lived.  So she asked her mom and she thought she lived right down the street.  Taryn went to check it out.  She found Faith’s house and knocked on the door.  Her mom came to the door and asked what Taryn wanted.  Taryn asked, “Can I talk to Faith?”  Her mom replied, “sure.”  She called for Faith to come to the door.    Taryn walked up to Faith and said, “Hey I wanted to talk about, something.”  Faith replied, “ok.”  “Well, whispered, do you want to know who pushed you off the top of the climbing wall?”  “Sure”, answered Faith.  “Well, it was ME!”  Faith had her mouth wide open.  “I’m so sorry, I’ll never ever do this again, never!”  “Will you please forgive me?”  asked Taryn.  Faith sighed, “I forgive you.”  Taryn sighed, “I locked you out of the school too.  Will you forgive me for that too?”  “Sure,” Faith said.  “Okay”, said Taryn.  “Do you want to be my friend?”  “Yes, I’ve always wanted that.  “Great!” said Taryn with a smile in her face.  Then Taryn helped Faith down the stairs and they yelled to Faith’s mom that they were going for a bike ride to Taryn’s house.

On their bike ride they were asking each other questions because they wanted to learn more about each other.  Taryn and Faith were best friends from now on.

Taryn’s mom noticed the change and how Taryn has improved a lot.  Taryn learned a big big lesson about treating others the way she would want to be treated.  Taryn was never mean to Faith again.
