Chapter summary:

Claudia decides to run away from her home because of injustice, being the oldest, like having to set the table every day. and she was bored of the same thing every day like fighting over the Saturday night show every Saturday. She decides to take her 2nd youngest brother, Jamie.

Beginning: Annemarie is walking in the woods and bringing her uncles lunch to him and a box with something in it and Annemarie does not know what it is for her best friend’s dad because he dropped it.

Middle: She is still walking in the woods but then she meets two nazi soldiers and they search her basket and find the box and ask what is in it and they open it and find a handkerchief in the box.

End: The nazi soldiers leave Annemarie with only cheese, and the torn open box with the handkerchief. Annemarie goes to deliver her uncles lunch and goes back home.

Our machine at the end will simply push a few balls into a cup or two. BUT… it will be a long and cool journey there.

Things you will need:

A long board

A Matchbox car. (Make sure it is strong!)

Lots of dominos!!

6,7, or 8 cups cups 1, 2, 3 or 4 balls

4 brick

ductape

2 2 by 4 legos

2 popsicle sticks

Lots of toilet paper tubes/paper towel tubes!!

How to make it:

1. Take the board and lay it one side on the table the other side on the floor.

2. Make a wall on the sides of the board out of anything  that will stay when something hits it.

3. At the bottom you will notice that there is an empty space. find something to put over it. It can be anything that will hold up a matchbox car.

4. Put 6 dominos at the bottom 1 inch away from the board.

5. Make the 1 row of dominos split into 2 rows by simply putting 2 dominos in front of the 1 so that it will push down those 2 dominos down at the same time.

6. Place 4 dominos in front of each of those 2 dominos

7.  Place 7 more dominos this time curving back towards the ramp going in 2 different ways

8. Place about 10 more dominos in front of each of the 2 lines of dominos.

9. Put a brick 3 4ths of an inch in front of your dominos.

10. Stack another brick on top of the 2 you you just placed.

11. Put 2 dominos on the 2 bricks.

12. Lay 1 popsicle stick  across the domino on the brick and the one on the floor. (If it does not reach across then take off the top brick).

13. Place a cup at the bottom of the brick.

14. Try it out by rolling the matchbox car down the board.
