Comparing Government

Something that surprised me was that the United Kingdom doesn’t have a written constitution. It only has laws that are enforced. In Thailand they also have a constitutional monarchy, so they are ruled by a king. Also Jamaica got their independence on the day the constitution was ratified. My countries were somewhat similar to the US. They all had a bicameral legislative branch with two houses. Some of the houses were called different names, for example, United Kingdom has the House of Lords, and the House of Commons. In Italy though the Judicial Branch has a Constitutional Court with 15 judges who serve instead of nine like the US. Some Judicial Branches in other countries have several court systems. In Thailand they have the Constitutional Court, the Supreme Court of Justice, and the Administrative Court. Italy, like the US, has only four political parties. While Thailand has eight, and the United Kingdom has ten. I now realize that the US way of government is not the only way possible. Other countries make it work without a constitution and without a president. Some countries are the same but have different changes in the branches of government. It works differently for every country.
