Dear parents,
I want to thank you for your sending your precious child to me. I enjoy teaching them each and every single day. I also want to thank you for all the volunteer work you did for our class. You are amazing parents! I hope you all have a great Thanksgiving break.
Information and Reminders:
We will create a Manger Scene in the month of December as we learn about Christmas stories. Each child needs to bring a big shoe box and 5 toilet paper tubes to school by Monday, December 11. I also sent a sign up of donating fabric yesterday. If you like to donate any fabric, please clink here. Thanks!
Up in Lights: Ellie Lamer Nov.27-Dec.1 Harper Lubbers Dec.4-8
Please finish and send your child’s package the week before your child’s special week. During your child’s special week, it is a wonderful opportunity to have lunch with your child, bring in pets, and or share special talents your family members may have been blessed with. Just inform me ahead of time what is your plan.
I have added some dates for classroom and lunch helpers for next couple months. Thank you so much for your help. If you like to sign up, the link is here.

From the immersion coordinator
What is circumlocution, and why is it important for our immersion students?
Circumlocution is the process of describing or ‘talking around’ a word that you might not be able to remember or haven’t learned yet. Clearly, the ability to circumlocute is crucial for our immersion students! Everyday they are confronted with the need for more vocabulary. The ability to stay in the language while searching for a new word is a skill that we concretely teach from Kindergarten on up. The process of circumlocution also develops the child’s use of the target language and helps us keep the two languages distinctly separate. You can encourage this skill at home as well by playing games such as Taboo or a verbal form of charades (child needs to guess or describe a word without saying the actual word).
Curriculum
Language Arts
Reading Strategies: point to each character while reading. Each character has one syllable. It is important to make sound and shape connections for our early and emergent readers.
Writers’ Workshop:
We will start drawing our stories on papers and try to tell the story out loud by point to each picture.
Math
Numbers 1 through 10: the +1 pattern and the -1 pattern
Science
We will identify and demonstrate pushes and pulls.
Bible
The tabernacle; rebellion and forty years of wandering; preparing to enter the promised land.
We will learn about the fruits of the sprit throughout the year. For the month of November, we will learn about the fruit of peace.
Social Studies
We will focus on science for the next couple months.
