Second graders finished their English handwriting. No more English homework for second graders.

First Grade Field Trip: Friday, June 2 John Ball Zoo Thank you to Lynette Heinz, Cara Larsen, Shanda Sprick, Erin Harris and Abby Allen for driving the field trip! Please bring all the boosters you have. If any parent would like to join the field trip, please let me know before May 1 to receive a discount. All parents who sign up after May 1 will have to pay $10 at the door.

9:45 Zoo/Snack at your leisure
12:15 Meet at the statue of John Ball/class pictures
12:30 Head back to Timber Town for lunch and play
1:30 Head back to school

Second Grade Field Trip:
1.Providence Nursing Home: Thursday, May 4 9:00-10:00am Thank you to Jen Brower, Joanna Haveman and Jill Delcalzo for driving the field trip!

2.Meijer Garden Friday, May 19 We will leave right in the morning and come back early afternoon. Each student will need to bring a packed lunch for the field trip. Thank you to Kristi Van Dyk and and the Doumas for driving the field trip! Please bring all the boosters you have. Thanks!

Language Arts
-Reading
We will continue reading the second The Box-car Children—-Surprise Island by Gertrude Chandler Warner.

-Writers’ Workshop: We will divide words into lines so that our poem sounds better. We will also try to use different voices of poetry: speak directly in to the subject; story poem and speak right to reader.

Math
-First Grade: We will learn the attributes of squares, rectangles, triangles and circles. We will also learn about equal share.

-Second Grade: We will learn 3 digits subtraction this week, learn to subtract from numbers with zeros, and practice subtraction from any number.

Social Studies
We finished our so

Science
-First Grade: We will observe monarch larva. We will learn life cycles that begin with an egg.

-Second Grade:We will create objects that move in the air and look at how air affects movement.

Bible
We will go back to the old testament. We will talk about Solomon’s anointing; Solomon’s choice and Solomon builds God’s temple.
