Dear parents,

Thank you so much for coming to the conferences. It was great to connect with you! This week will be our first full week of implementing Mandarin Only Timeline. Students are encouraged to talk to me only in Mandarin. We will continue talking about how to use actions/pictures or words you know to communicate.

Information and Reminders:
Up in Lights: Please finish and send your child’s package the week before your child’s special week. During your child’s special week, it is a wonderful opportunity to have lunch with your child, bring in pets, and or share special talents your family members may have been blessed with. Just inform me ahead of time what is your plan.

Grandparents Day: Friday, Nov. 2
9:10 am: Welcome
9:15 am: Chapel for Y5-8th Grade
10:00 am : Coffee
10:20-11:30 am: Visit Classrooms
11:30-12:00 pm : Lunch with Grandchildren
*Sack lunch available for purchase. No pre-ordering necessary.

November 8: Picture Retake Day

November 9: NO AM or PM Busing

Curriculum

Language Arts
Daily 5
We will start another component of Daily 5 called listen to read. Students listen to stories or have character practices on I-pads.

Writers’ Workshop:
We will practice labeling things. For the next few weeks, we will use cut out labels to label things.

Math
5-groups in numbers 6-10

Bible
Moses as a baby; Moses and the burning bush

We will learn about the fruits of the sprit throughout the year. For the month of November, we will learn about the fruit of peace.

Social Studies
We will continue the Project Based Learning (PBL) unit of making a map for grandparents’ day. We will practice to use the map to walk around the school and mark important places to help our grandparents get around. We are excited to show our grandparents around the school on this coming Friday!
