Math word problem

(8y) x 2= 156

First you have to divide the answer to the problem by 2 so that you can cancel out the two in the problem. SO now if you divide it, the problem would now be: 8y = 48… So what times 8 equals 48? So you’d divide 48 by 8 and that equals 6…. so the answer to Y would be 6. Lets try it- with order of operation. 8 x 6= 48… 48 x 2 = 156, which is the answer.

(8 x 6) x 2 =156

What I learned in Math

I learned in math about finding angles to different kinds of shapes with similar shapes. I could use this when if I’m measuring something and something similar and congruent to that I could just use the one shape and not have to measure both.

I could also use the coordinate plane.  I’ve heard form Andrew, that to make a video game, I would have to use the coordinate plane in someway, so if I ever go in an industry like that, I would be able to do it.

I also learned how to find angles to different shapes, such as triangles, squares, ect. I could use this if I didn’t have a protractor to measure things out to make something, and If I already had the main idea of the measurements, then I could do that also. If I went into building or something like that, this would help.

A lot of the things I learned this year could help with a numerous amount of jobs that I could go into.

Theme Writing

They have no speach, they have no words; no sound is heard from them. Yet their voice goes out into all the Earth, their words to the end of the World. Psalm 19: 3-4

In the May of last year, our grade came up with this theme. Deciding on a verse, which is the one above, our class came up with the theme, “Shout Silently- Actions that Speak” This theme is about how we, as a school could tell people about Christ about His Word, through how we act, not always about what you say to others. You also have to have the actions to fulfill it. These verses in the Bible though, are about nature and how the sun and the moon and how they go out into the world, and without speaking, can spread the word of God, just by looking and recognizing them. Just like them, being made and being creations by God, we should be able to do that also. There wasn’t a theme like this before, and our grade thought it was a perfect theme that we also can work on. So these past couple days, we, as a grade, came up with ways for each one of us personally, of how we can make a difference by the way we act and how we interact with people. As for me, I made ways I can impact others through my actions within the school, out in our community, and into the world.

As an 8th grader this year, I came up with four ways I could make a difference in the attitude of the younger grades through out the school and ways that would make them feel like they mean something, and make them feel special also. When I was younger I always looked up to the 8th graders, even last year I did. Being in that position, I don’t feel like I’ll be able to fulfill being that leader figure that I always pictured being an 8th grader would be. So I came up with a list I thought would be a good start this year on how to act and talk to the younger grades to live up to the theme verse we picked out. I thought that remembering the kids in my small groups names and everyone else’s name I can in the other grades would be a good start. I also thought that just saying hi to them could make a difference in there day, you don’t know what others are going through, so it might just make a small difference that could mean something. I don’t know about the other grades, but when I was younger, in small groups when they remembered my name and said hi to me in the hallways when we passed outside of it, that made me feel like an equal, I always enjoyed talking to them in the following group meetings and in the activities that came after. Within my grade itself and I could with others too, I thought it would be good to help my classmates with homework or class work then they need it. If they’re lost of don’t have a partner, I could help or become that persons partner. I liked when others came up to me and asked if I wanted to be there partner and joined up with me in the halls and I think that would be awesome if I did the same to others more this year and more throughout the years to come. Another idea I thought would be great was to ask or email my classmates if I can pray for them in any way, or just simply ask how they’re days going so far.

Just in general, even out of school, I have to be a good influence to everyone in a bunch of different ways, some just making a difference at home to the people around me. Some examples of how I could be good at school is making my bed in the morning without being asked to make my parents happy and unloading the dishwasher would also make them less stressed, even taking a little task out of their day would make a difference. Alike from those I could set the table or help them out a meal in any way if its a fairly big amount of work they have to do to prepare it. Another way I could be a good example of our theme outside of home or school is I could be positive always. Always being in a good mood even when you don’t feel like it could could influence the people around to also join you and have a good mood. So I’m going to always try to be positive about what I’m doing.

This year I made ways I can impact others through my actions within the school, out in our community, and into the world. I want to try to remember other grades names and say hi to them in the hallways, help with homework whenever I can, and ask everyone how there days going or ask if theres any way I can pray for them. In the community and at home I came up with ways I could also make a difference, even if its small. I could make my bed in the morning without being asked, along with that I could unload the dishwasher for my parents, I could also set the table before meals and help with the meal, and then I could always be positive to others around me, out of school and in. There’s a lot of ways I could be a good influence to everyone, and I could try working on a lot more, I just decided to choose these to focus on.

This intriguing, well crafted book is about the hardships and wonders of a genius girl named Willow.  Willow’s counselor, Dell Duke,  is awed by Willows intelligence and eventually tries to study her and becomes a huge part of Willow’s life. Then this outstanding, moral of a girl loses her parents in a devastating accident, leaving her without anyone to take care of her. She’s alone, in a world with no close friends or family to take her in as a foster family. Before this accident she meets this girl at her counseling session, and they become distant but to Willow one of her closest friends. This family takes her in until the foster home can find a home for Willow. Then the adventures start. This family is almost immediately impacted by this amazing girl and the adventures they do with her is one of a kind and the most touching book you’ll ever read.  My favorite part was when the family, Dell Duke, and Willow make the garden in their back yard, getting permission from the City’s Council, arranging it, making it, that was by far the best part of the book. (SO AMAZING!) This book is for the people who like to read clever, touching, books that make you laugh and cry at the same time. Its a caring, loving book that you’ll never want to put down, even for a moment.

The Lord’s Prayer

your kingdom come,
your will be done.

I like this part of the Lord’s prayer because it shows that everything is not all about us, just living out life is about God and we should live it for Him. Sometimes we get so caught up in what the world says about how to act that we don’t even think about what God has done for us. This part of the prayer shows that we need to let go of ourselves and just let God work in us, this is so much easier said than done though.

Africa Entry Event

I thought it was crazy how developed South Africa was, how people from many countries live there, I thought just African American’s lived there, apparently a lot of people from different cultures live there also. And how many people in this one country all had cell phones basically. And the country right next to it had very little people who had phones. I also thought it was crazy that not many countries in Africa have that much wild life, like how I usually picture Africa is packed with different animals and you’d walk down the road and then see a lion, but only a couple countries have many animals. I thought it was also insane how many different languages they say there! That would be insane to keep track of them all hearing about them.

I had no idea how tough the lives of people in Africa, and how easy some are there. How far they have to walk to get water everyday, and how many people didn’t know how to read was crazy. Thats a pretty important thing to learn to do in life, and they manage to live with not knowing. I thought everyone in Africa wore very skimpy, not very nice clothing. But I’ve seen pictures of people that have clothes just like our here.

I would like to learn more about the people’s everyday life in Africa, what daily life look like for them. I would also like to learn about the social issues there, about the terrorism there, what that looks like for them and how big of a problem it is, and what kind of things do they do. I would also like to learn about the different races that live there and the different languages they all speak. Hear how they deal with learning them and how they communicate with each other. How they run government with all those different languages they probably have to learn. I think it was awesome to also learn about what they eat there, what they usually eat every day.
