What we are learning:

This week we have been working so hard as we are pushing towards Spring Break as well as adjusting to the new time! We have had another incredible and busy week in KA!!

In Bible we are continuing to work on our Easter timeline as we are studying all the events that led to Jesus’ death and resurrection. This has been an amazing time in our classroom as we discuss and sing praises daily for what Jesus did for us! Ask your child to sing the song Hosanna Rock, we love it!

In phonics we continued our study of word families, adding the ap and ad families. We also cut up a letter and put it together and then read it finding words we knew to make it easier! We did an amazing job with that!

.

In writing workshop we continued our How to writing. The highlight was how to make a frosting sandwich, where we first made it and ate it and then wrote our How to description.  Next week we will be writing almost completely on our own!

Our new word wall word this week is when. This is added to all the ones we have already been learning! They are a, at, and, am, come, go, here, I, it, is, in, look, like, me, my, on, see, the, this, to, up, we where and who.

In Math we worked on simple addition as well as reviewing positional words such as over, under, next to and beside. On St. Patrick’s day we did some fun graphing with Lucky Charms marshmallows!

During Daily 5 we are continuing to work in groups with me as well as working on writing, word work, listening to reading and reading to self. We are working on strategies to decode words. Keep reading their books with them at home as the more familiar they are with the word wall words the easier it is for them to decode the words around them! It is so fun to see their love for reading continuing to grow!

We are also beginning to enjoy the spring weather and can’t get enough of it!!! The fresh air has been so good for us!
