What We are Learning
We began the week with TWOsday! We had a fun day doing all things with 2 and 22. It was so fun to hear the kids saying the date and enjoying a little different day than our regular routine.
Bible: We are wrapping up our unit on miracles. It is important for us to read about the miracles that Jesus performed while he was on earth in human form, but also to see the power and miracles that God still performs today. Our God is so big, so strong and so mighty!
Bible Memory: The blind receive sight, the lame walk, those who have leprosy are cured, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the good news is preached to the poor. Luke 7:22
Math: We played with shapes and discovered that we can combine two shapes and make a new one. For example, two triangles can make a square. We continue to work on number writing this week.
Daily 5: We introduced a new word work choice. Students pick up a picture card and use letters to spell the word. After spelling it, students can flip the card over and check their work. All of the words are CVC (consonant vowel consonant).
Phonics: This week we met the an family. After brainstorming what words are part of the family, we reviewed with a popcorn bucket including the an words. It was good to practice writing and reading the _an words.
Word Wall: we added in to the wall (a, at, and, am, come, go, here, I, is, it, look, like, me, my, on, see, the, this, to, up, we)
Writing Workshop: We wrote two how to instructions. We wrote out how to bake cookies and had picture clues to help us form sentences. Then we had a challenge of drawing the pictures and writing instructions for how to make a sandwich. Sounding out words continues to be a lot of work, but with some assistance, your children are doing an amazing job! Writing one sentence is something you can practice at home or in the car with a notebook or clipboard. Keep up the writing! 🙂
