What We Have Been Learning:

Working hard on Tuesday to prepare for our Animal Presentations

Fun with our science day!

PBIS celebration picnic

It was a beautiful day for the Farmer’s Market

Our PBL work this week was enormous! You can be so proud of your children! My favorite part was watching them collaborate on posters and presentation. I always check in on groups and ask each child what he/she would like to say. This was the first time that every single child knew exactly what they wanted to say. It was amazing! It was even better when it was time to present and they changed what they were saying. They must have learned a lot!

What We Have Been Learning:

This week we worked hard researching animals and writing down what we learned. I heard many comments that “this is a lot of writing?” Yes, it was! I was seeing a lot of focus and interest though. I am excited for your children to share some interesting things they have learned about animals.

This week I was able to work with students individually for an end of year assessment. Each one of the children in this classroom is truly a gift! Each one has grown in his or her own way. We can be so proud of them!

We had a lot of fun working in centers this week and enjoying our ABC countdown.

What We Have Been Learning:

We started the week with hat day!

We enjoyed ice cream on i day!

We heard some funny jokes on j day!

We spread kindness to our office by singing Jesus loves Me to the school secretaries.

L day brought us lemonade!

We are still working very hard on reading and writing during daily 5. I am amazed at the growth I have seen in your children.

Our Phonemic Awareness has been including blends. This week we had fun writing a cvc word and then adding one more letter to change the word. For example, I would say, spell pot. After the kids sounded out p-o-t and wrote it out I would say, now add an s in front, what word did we make? This is a simple and fun writing activity to do at home as well!

In Math we have learned 10+ well. We are working on writing teen numbers. This remains a little tricky in first grade as well. Sometimes 16 is written as 61. This is age appropriate, but we are modeling the correct number formation.
