What We Have Been Learning:

Math-We are reviewing 3D shapes, teen numbers, addition and subtraction and math partners.

Reading-We are opening all of our reading bins for the class. They are loving choosing from a large assortment of books. I love to see them get excited about a new book and sharing it with a friend. This week for R day on Monday, many students read book a loud to the class. They are doing great!

Writing-This week we learned about small moments. We used a watermelon to remind us that sometimes we have a big idea for writing, but just like a water melon, we need to make it smaller. We sliced it and then picked out the seeds (details) of a story. It has been amazing to watch these writers grow this year!

Bible-We reviewed our theme verse for the year and thought about the gifts and talents God has put in each one of us.

Phonics-we continue to review vowels.

It was fun to have a different teacher step into our room on upside down day. Maestra Zondervan also enjoyed seeing our class. 🙂

What We Have Been Learning:

Picnic in Pajamas on Thursday!

Working hard on our PBL projects.

Neon Day! We borrowed a special light from Maestra Zondervan and it was so fun!!

Bible: We looked at a map of Paul’s ministry travels. What an amazing example of following Jesus’s commission for us to go and tell the world about his love for us.

Math: We learned about 3D shapes! We explored our classroom looking for pyramids, cones, rectangular prisms and cubes. This is a great thing to do at home and practice that vocabulary. We are also reviewing subtraction. It can be tricky to remember how to subtract at first, but once the kids get started, they are catching on!

Phonics: We reviewed digraphs th, sh, wh, ch.

I was so proud of your children and the hard work that they did preparing their PBL presentations! I hope that they stay curious and keep writing and creating displays of what they have learned. National Geographic kids is a great resource for kid friendly animal research. There are many picture books available at the library as well.

Daily 5: I am amazed at the growth in our young readers! I keep reaching for books I haven’t read before and they are doing hard work reading through them.

This week we also listened to information on safe touch. She reminded children who safe adults are to talk to if they ever have a question.

we continue to review and practice teen numbers.

PBL: our animal groups have made lists of what they want to learn about an animal. The kids are jerking journals to write out what they are learning.
