What We Have Been Learning:
Reading: I have loved doing some formal assessments with each child. I see how God created each child with unique gifts and abilities. I love to see the areas that your children shine and it truly helps me form lesson plans to help other areas grow. This week we have been working on sounding out words in small groups and creating words with letters in word work. The class is enjoying writing pattern books.
Phonemic Awareness: We continue to enjoy playing with words. We say one words – like cat. Then we take away the c and try to make more words by adding a different sound to the beginning.
Engaging God’s World: We are exploring motion. Playing outside was a helpful way to begin. Going down a sledding hill or a slide is a type of motion. The class planned out how to make their own ramp for stuffies to go down. We also tried to figure out a way to help the stuffy stop.
Math: We are adding up groups of items. This week we learned a few strategies for counting items that are scattered. It is helpful to line them up or if it is on paper, it is helpful to cross items off as we count.
Grayson was our friend Up in Lights! We love Grayson’s joyful personality. We learned that he loves Mario even more than we thought and enjoyed his mom reading us his new Mario Book.
