Week Ending November 17
Reminders:
- Please send in clean towels/blankets in on Monday (we are trying to keep stuffed animals at home and only bring those on special days. Thank you for understanding!)
- If there is snow on the ground or expected please have a bag with: snow pants, gloves (sometimes multiple sets), hat and winter boots. When boots are worn outside, the kids will wear gym shoes inside. Please try to label anything that belongs to your child. We try to make sure your child goes home with all winter gear each day in case it needs to be washed or dried. Thank you!
- November 22-24 NO School, Thanksgiving Break
This week in Kindergarten…
We have growing writers! We began a new unit this week on writing lists. We thought of why would need to write a list (grocery lists, Christmas lists, etc). Our first list was a list of our school friends. We spent three different writing times writing all 22 names. The kids did such a great job and were so proud of their work. Our next list was a list of pets. We are using sound spelling to write these words. We think of the word, say the word slowly and then listen for each sound. We write the sound that we hear. This is a long process. Once again I am so proud of the work I saw!
In Phonics were sorted picture card by beginning sound. This has been great practice and is helpful with our reading and writing.
Daily 5 groups continue to work with teacher and students work independently.
In Math we were comparing groups and deciding which had more.
In Bible we read about Joseph. We read of so many hard things happening to Joseph, yet he knew that even in those really difficult times God was with him. It is wonderful to see God’s big plan for Joseph and his brothers.
We enjoyed our hat day on Tuesday!
We had a lot of fun with the Pajama Party on Friday. We were able to watch Wild Kratts with friends from Young 5’s, Kindergarten, First and Second grade. We all were in pajamas in the library.
Colton was our friend up in lights this week. We realized we have another dog owner in the classroom 🙂 Colton shared some of his favorite toys as well. We love the way you share Colton!
