It was great to see so many smiling faces at the Memorial Day parade!

Daily 5: We continue our Daily 5 choices. This week I worked with small groups on spelling words. I told them it was a little practice for what they do in older grades 🙂 The kids were excited to take a spelling test like older siblings take. It was great for me to see so many sound out words and write them out!

Writing: This week we focused more on spacing between words in sentences and making sure there is a period at the end of the sentence. In connection with our handwriting lessons, I am also trying to make sure the class is only using uppercase letters when a word needs to be capitalized and then using lower case more and more.

Bible: We have been reflecting on our Bible stories from this past year and praising God through songs. I love listening to each child’s favorite Bible story.

Engaging God’s World: What a celebration of your children’s work! They thought of an animal to study, read books, wrote out facts, chose a favorite fact, and then created something to show what they learned. I was so proud of their creativity and hard work! Thank you for coming Wednesday to celebrate with us.

Math: We are growing in our understanding of 3 dimensional shapes! I am so impressed at how quickly your children are learning names of rectangular prisms and cylinders. We have been looking inside and outside of our classroom for these shapes. While we were out today, we have some fun tossing helicopters 🙂 It was a great reminder to stop and enjoy nature! God gave us a world to explore and enjoy as well as take care of. Kids are a great reminder to take a few extra minutes to enjoy it.
