Week Ending January 29

Reminders:

  • Please remember towels in towel bags and bags of snow gear.
  • The kids have been doing well bringing in snow gear and keep track of it…for the most part 🙂
  • Tuesday, February 9: 100th Day! We had a snow day, so we have now adjusted and the 9th is our new 100th day! We will dress “super” and hope to meet Zero the Hero! More details to come. You can think of a SIMPLE super hero shirt or head band, mask or cape for your child to wear.
  • Friday, February 12-Monday February 15: Winter Break, No School
  • Tuesday, February 16: Valentine’s Celebration You may send in valentine’s for your child to pass out to friends. You do not need to label the To section, but please have your child sign his/her name on the From section. We have 19 friends in our classroom

What We Have Been Learning…

  • In Math we are taking a look at teen numbers. Saying some of the names can be difficult, so we are practicing. We are focusing on 10+ to make a teen number (Understanding tens and ones).
  • In Daily 5 I am enjoying seeing the progress your children are making in reading and writing independently!
  • Writing Workshop has continued with pattern books. The children are writing and sounding out words so well!
  • We are starting Handwriting again. This week we practiced uppercase M and N.
  • In Bible we are wrapping up our Unit of Jesus’s beginning ministry with stories of Zaccheus and Mary and Martha. Both help us remember that we should try to seek Jesus and listen to him.
  • Word Wall Words now include: a, at, and, am, come, go, here, I, is, look, like, me, my, see, the, this, up, we.

Friday Fun! We took advantage of the snow and went sledding Friday morning!
